whats with these fender stripes i keep seeing on other peoples sgts? they look great but i've never seen them advertised of in any catalogue. on a side note what are the sc options from shelby now for the sgt. i would ask my local mod shop but they can be questionable sometimes(owners one hell of a salesman. i walked in once to buy a 24 dollar part and left with 200 dollars in stuff)

First, welcome aboard!

BTW, classic signature, I love it!

So for the stripes.... There's several threads on here. It's sort of a nod to the past when racers (specifically Cobras/Shelby Mustangs) were all out on the track. It was hard to tell who was driving what due to similar paint colors. For pit crews to ID their drivers/cars they added the "pit stripes." Some have said these were tape, i've even heard it was as simple as grabbing a can of spray paint of whatever color was laying around..... Anyway, it's a little nostalgic thing some have chosen to do and they just flat out look right on the car. We have typically gone to sign shops and asked for them to be made. No magic to them. There's threads on here about placement, spacing, etc and it went on for months. Do a search..

As far as superchargers....... Where to start. There's the Kenne Bell's, Whipple/Ford Racing, Paxton, etc. Again, the search feature on the board is a great tool. Ask questions, don't be shy and do your homework. Ultimately, get and/or do what fits your taste, budget, etc.

Most of all, enjoy that Shelby!!!!!!!

thanks for the warm welcome, im used to the usual newb bashing so this is much better then i usually get.

my first shelby was destroyed, i liked it so much i had to buy another one. went manual this time havent looked back since(ok i lied i want my first shelby and my new one)

the kb's look really nice even if theyr expensive. i have wondered what goes with the sgtsc package but i suppose i can find out when im ready.

thank you very much for the info. i have alot of ideas for my car just from visiting. im not s team shelby member yet but thats seriously going to have to change.

If you are in a standard you can use pretty much any supercharger. If you are running an automatic your best bet is either Whipple or Paxton. Every mod shop I have spoken with will not install a Kenne Bell on an auto car.

P.S. Be careful with your new Shelby! and Welcome aboard!!! :happy feet:

I got a sheet of material (about 1 ft by 3.5 ft) from fireball graphics and cut my stripes w/ an Xacto. I laid 1 inch blue painters tape down as a center guide and laid my stripes on, cost about $12. No big deal, they have been on for about a year an a half with no sign of wear.

im really likeing the red on yours, i think mine would look great in the same lay out, though as of this moment i plan on using ss window scoops and gt500 ducktail(3med on of course no permanent holes for me thank you)

i really like the way they look theyr aggressive and almost mean spirited. would go great wiht the stuff i have planned.

how does 500hp feel with a 4.6l? :shift:

ps whats all this stripe wear i keep hearing about? is this something i should consult my dealer about?

Pretty scary at times, especially with stock tires/wheels. They just aren't wide enough or sticky enough. I can get the rear end to break loose while turning out of a side street (or gas station) and accelerating into traffic. Be careful. The solution is wider tires - more ground contact.

I can't get my Cobra to do it - and it weighs about 1/3 less and has about the same HP, bu the tires are wide, very wide, and they are stickier (although not like MT or Nitto).

I'll be leaving my tires as they are because I want to keep the black wheels.

550 HP here and it is crazy! :shift:

I can't believe how quick I get to 90mph.

There is a 550HP going into an automatic at Tasca right now...

i want that kind of power so bad, kinda scared though my sgt wont keep them connected right now, it can keep em loose to 3rd....i can't even imagine how long you can keep that rear end loose. i've been thinking about getting some new tires. im at the very least going to get some nitto nto1's for hallet. since its about 30 minutes from me.

the cobra's are insane.

Thanks for the compliment, I got the idea from pics of an old 427 cobra and then noticed a couple people doin it on thier SGT's. I am goin for a 60's GT350 racer look.

As for the center stripe issue.... Yes there has been problems, I had mine replaced under warrantee as well as a new hood scoop. So far it looks great and the old issues havn't showed up. The old stripes were getting what looked like rust spots on them and were curling up at the edges. I want to eventually have the stripes painted on.

By the way, my car is naturally aspirated and I love it! I do plan on a set of JBA long tube headers in the near future.

do it i have the 3 inch full sysen and its AMAZING. it is kinda loud but thats ok. you get a really good boost in power from it(almost 30hp with a HOT tune) if your s/c im sure the gain is higher. just keep in mind these are BIIIIIIIIIIIIIGGGGGG pipes, overall its a wonderfull system, you'll hate it when you first put it in but a week or two you will need a new set of pants everytime you start the car. orrr you'll fall head over heels for it when you get on it for the first time

p.s. at full throttle you set off every car alarm in a 50 foot radius of you and any tuner within a 5 mile radius is instantly blown up

Welcome to TS. Pictures are a must!

You don't need any mods to make "most" ricers green.

Grab 3rd gear at freeway speeds and mash the throttle.....
