HARALD KELLEY
I have an idea. Since SAI is now doing SGT upgrade mods here is my thought: A post rental GTH S/C upgrade package exclusive for GTH owners. I know I would like to add a S/C but do not want to cut up my hood or lose the strut brace if possible. The Paxton SC is OK but the Whipple works better with the auto trans so I am told. The whipple would be in black. This mod also needs to be done in a manner that allows the car to be put back to stock if desired. Cutting the hood to accomadate the Whipple S/C would make this impossible unless you bought another hood. Others may also have this concern. If the Terlingua deep draw hood would work with a strut brace, it could be painted and striped like the original hood and maintain the stock look with functionality. The original hood could be kept if the owner decided to return to rental stock quality. So the proposed SAI exclusive GTH S/C post rental package could look like this:: Whipple 400 hp SC or 550 Whipple if safe to do so Center gauge pod with gauges Deep draw Terlingua functional hood - painted and striped as original hood Special GTH/SC strut brace, an exclusive for GTH Shelby GT Plus Brake upgrade front & rear This would be a post rental GTH S/C package documented in the registery What do you think? Bud & Amy, if you read this give it some consideration.
JeffJ
Harold, While that would be really cool, I just don't think that there is a market for SAI to do this. Of course for the right amount of $, there is a market to do only one. But with a total of 1,000 cars as your customer base, how many would actually do this? I would think that most guys with the funds to do this, have already modified their cars with the SC. Now most of the package you describe is doable for sure. I don't think that they would do any parts exclusive for GTH as the market is just not there. So specific strut tower brace would probably be out I would think. It would have to be something available for all Shelby GT's I would think. Just thinking about it from a business stand point. Now I'm sure all the Shelby GT guys would love to have the deep draw hood as an available option. I don't think that it is yet. I'm sure that SAI would be happy to take in a GTH as part of their same available options for the Shelby GT modifications, I just don't see doing anything specific to the GTH's. Other than the stripes of course. When I can do this, I would actually prefer the Paxton as then the stock hood could remain. But that is just my personal choice. hertz208
Harald, I am very pleased with my Paxton novi 2200, I couldn't ask for a better power mod for my GT-H, I think Ive showed you some pictures a while back. I can always go back to stock anytime. My car dynoed at 496 rwhp. plus I put a 3500rpm stall converter which really made it launch better. Thanks, Steven
HARALD KELLEY
Thanks guys for your thoughts. Jeff, you are most likely correct as it relates to a marketing and cost perspective. Steve, your car looks awesome and I appreciate the positive feedback. The Paxton 1200 is the one that Shelby sells with the Shelby logo & number. I have been told they will not install the Novi 2200. I have heard that the centrifical needs to to stay in the 2,000 to 3,000 + rpm range to be effective. I thought this would be difficult with the auto. I must agree that the Paxton allows all stock items to remain intacked and retain some heritage as well. I just keep getting conflicting information on the Paxton. The Whipple seems to be all psoitive feed back. The Edelbrock E-force also will retain the brace and fit under the hood and work well with the auto. However, I would prefer to keep it in the family of Ford Racing, Paxton, you know what I mean. I am only wanting to get about 350 to 380 RWHP and would like SAI to do this mod, again to keep it well documented. Do not need much more and don't want to overstress the motor. I would really like to drive an auto with the Paxton. That may solve my hesitance to go that route. Shelby put the Whipple on their GTH car becouse since it had the auto. Anyone out there with a Paxton & auto I can drive? I will make a decission some day. Just like my wheels. Took a long time and viewing a lot of pictures. hertz208
steven, what other mods did you do or have to do w/ the paxton. I also have SCT tune which I think really set the car up to max performance. And also If Im not mistaken, somewhere I think Amy said she hsd driven a GTH car with the paxton S/C and it did great. I think it was the 1200. Steven
