Mattlanta
Hi guys, I'm just wondering if anyone is noticing a rear end howl? I know the parking lot tight turning noise is normal due to the carbon fiber LSD, but what about howl on highway/cruise? I just want to know if that is normal or not based on your experience. Thanks! What you are discribing is not normal. Rear should be quiet. Take it into dealership. Bet its the clutch pack in the rear end that is the culprit. Mine was noisy and they replaced the clutch pack and wala, no more noise.

6-Speed
Hi guys, I'm just wondering if anyone is noticing a rear end howl? I know the parking lot tight turning noise is normal due to the carbon fiber LSD, but what about howl on highway/cruise? I just want to know if that is normal or not based on your experience. Thanks! I have a 2007 and mine does the same thing. Took it in for the related TSB for the Mustang GT, which added 4 oz of friction modifier and that didn't help. Although the howling noise exists on GT500's there are no related TSB's applicable to this model, only the Mustang GT. Since the clutch pacs are carbon type in the 500, I did not want them replaced with a non-carbon fiber type, which is what my dealer probably would have done if I continued to force the issue. Until Ford issues a GT500 specific TSB for the issue, I am going to live with the noise.
ingram4868
Could it be tire noise your hearing? My F1's really sing on concrete freeways.
6-Speed
Could it be tire noise your hearing? My F1's really sing on concrete freeways. Nope, this howling is heard during low speed tight turns - as when pulling into a parking space.
Keith Lambert
Hi guys, I'm just wondering if anyone is noticing a rear end howl? I know the parking lot tight turning noise is normal due to the carbon fiber LSD, but what about howl on highway/cruise? I just want to know if that is normal or not based on your experience. Thanks! I have the same noise as well. Cruising at about 65 mph and above, and I get the classic rear end gear whine. Ease on and off the throttle and it'll start and stop. Sounds like the gears need a slight adjustment. Haven't had a dealer listen to it yet though. Keith
DrGT500
Nope, this howling is heard during low speed tight turns - as when pulling into a parking space. My '09 exhibits the exact same symptoms, so to speak. lol I was wondering whether it was "normal" or not. DocGT

shelbypowered
The only time I had rear end noise was when I had 373s- two times- two sets- went back to stock 331s and it is fine- not fine like driving the 373s but the noise is gone- blame the issue on the install as the 373s were put in by a different shop than the 331s- will use the last shop when I go back to 373s- some people say the 373s can make noise even if done properly- I would think most of the time however it is the instalation- both sets of 373s were ford racing gears- Any rear end noise out there with 373s or 410s?
