Obama to lay out sober assessment, hopeful future

Recommended Posts

Tune in! 9PM eastern!

President Obama's address Tuesday to a joint session of Congress will have a heavy emphasis on the economy and will try to strike an optimistic tone, aides said. President Obama will speak primarily about the economy in his address to a joint session of Congress. That's a sign Obama has heard the criticism, including from former President Clinton, that he needs to mix sober talk with an upbeat bottom line. "He believes we will meet these challenges and lift ourselves out of this" recession, one top aide said. "He will say, 'The best days are ahead of us.' "

He was very up beat when he came to Canada for his first out of country visit, the people up here think he is great. He told us he loves this country , not sure about the free trade agreement, but he went to a local bakery & bought some goodies. The cost of that one day visit was huge with the security & flying his limo up here but I guess that s part of the political game.

Thank God I have some good stuff saved on the DVR to watch instead. Why would anybody waste time listening to this guy? He's already shown he isn't up to the job and that his word is no good.

+1 - I'll wait to read the truth about whatever he's done or doing later. His speech will be carefully worded and self-serving.

As we listen to Obama's speech tonight, consider the following;

Sam Webb is the national chair of the Communist Party USA. In the last two years, Webb has traveled to China, United Kingdom, Vietnam, and Cuba where he met with Communist and Socialist leaders and he represented the Communist Party USA at the Athens, Greece, meeting of world Communist Parties.

Recent speech and statements;

"President Obama, is working to nationalize the U.S. economy", said Sam Webb. "President Obama is beginning, the 'Peoples Change', by Nationalizing, the U.S. financial system ,the Federal Reserve Bank, private industries, such as energy and other private sectors".

"These business's must be Nationalized, because their future is "problematic" in private hands", claims the leader of the Communist Party of the USA. in a major speech focused on Obama titled, "Off and running: Opportunity of a lifetime,"

CPUSA leader Sam Webb also stated that "President Obama's administration will and must turn education, childcare, and health care into "no profit zones;" rerouting investment capital from military infrastructure to "green economy" projects and public infrastructure; and waging a "full scale" assault on global warming."

"We now have not simply a friend, but a 'people's advocate' in the White House," declared Sam Webb at a recent speech in Ohio for People's Weekly World Communist newspaper. He appalled, "President Obama and his plans for a complete, Democratic public takeover of the energy complex as well as a readiness and strong willingness, to takeover other basic industries whose future is problematic in private hands".

"Turning education, child care, and health care into "no profit" zones". "Rerouting investment capital from unproductive investment (military, finance and so forth) to productive investment in a green economy and public infrastructure."

Webb applauded "Obama's, $800-plus billion stimulus package as "a good bill that will begin the process of Nationalizing the Private sector". Communist Party, leader Sam Webb, explained that labor unions, (which he said were instrumental in Obama's election), must work hard, to keep the White House in check by "exercising an enormous influence on the political process".

Sam Webb concluded by stating, "that never before in American history, has a coalition, like the Obama administration, with such breadth and influence, walked on the political stage of our country," "Our time has come".

Gawd damn....what a great speech!

:happy feet:

Seemed to be VERY well received by all there on both sides of the aisle.

Everyone working together is the only way we'll get out of this mess!

A campaign quality speech at best.

But you're right about one thing, working TOGETHER is the only way out of this mess. The Democrats in Congress and the President himself can't continue to have the "WE WON" attitude; ignoring and discounting Republican input and debate on these serious issues.

They're "Talking the Talk", but not "Walking the Walk"!

I am starting to think you are a little "star struck" with the great one.... :dreamy:

I didn't watch it, but working together and finding common ground would be a plus, as long as the common ground is for the benefit of the American People and not the politician. I am not to optimistic about that, given their track record.

In FOUR WEEKS?

How many failing businesses have you turned around in YOUR first four weeks on the job?

Four weeks was enough time to break campaign promises and show that he is a typical untruthful politician. It was also enough time to showcase his political ineptness. He may be a nice guy and many seem to have a man crush on him but he isn't up to the job.

Like I said before.....It was the MEDIA that got him Elected. They wanted to proovethat they had the Power to get anyone Elected President no matter who he'she was and they did just that.

His speech is just that, a speech, however there is no credibiltiy surrounding it as a result of all the pork and lard which the democrats have passed and labled as a "stimulus" package. Obama says we should be responsible while at the same time his administration is acting completely irreponsibile. He also says that bigger goverment is not the answer, yet the "stimulus" is all about a bigger and more intrusive government. Apparently he hasn't read the "stimulus package" yet. :headscratch: There are many more flaws in his statements and beliefs, too many to get into here but I'm sure over time we'll be discussing them! :lurk:

gawd. I can't believe I'm going to do this.

Frankly the man bored me to tears and I switched it over to SouthPark about 1/2 way though.

Lets check some facts shall we? Everyone knows the USA did not invent cars but that is trivial...

I caught that last night too. If he were a Republican the press would have it plastered all over the papers. My wife thought that it sounded like a pep-rally; I thought that it sounded like a State of The Union Address.

Yes, and in the middle of the night Katie Courick hypnotized Sen. McCain convincing him choose the Governor of Alaska as his running mate, then run outside to announce the fundamentals of our economy were strong and finally to move the tone of this campaign into a classic "angry old man" play!

Gawd damn brilliant! :happy feet:
