twobjshelbys
I'm one of the old guys that was on when it was a "wait list". I put in my dates for approx Memorial Day weekend of 2010. Anyone else trying and interested in participating in a group (or looking for a boater - I've done it 5 times and not flipped a boat yet).

twobjshelbys
What's the Grand Canyon Lottery? Colorado River through the Grand Canyon private party river trips. A little over two weeks of paradise. A trip down the Colorado will be one of your most treasured experiences. Commercial trips are merely "OK". Motorized trips give you a feel. When you spend two weeks+ on a row boat (with 15 other people that you'd better know pretty well - there are some social things that happen) you will have a memory you will never forget. I've been on 5 trips (4 privates, two of my own) and hope that I get to do two or three more as my bucket list. I didn't get it this year. Try again next year! mywickedshelby
Dale and I would love to join you Tony. Something that has been at the top of our list right next to Moab. email me some details so we can assess the "realities" of a trip of this magnitude from an experienced "river man" as yourself. mbsings4u@msn.com

twobjshelbys
Got the email on Wednesday from the National Park Service: Thank you for submitting a lottery application for a Grand Canyon noncommercial river permit. We regret to inform you that you were not a winner. We wish you better luck next time. A guy I know is a geologist. I fyou have a "research project" you can apply to your congressman and get a trip. Working. We're thinking of studying global warming in the Grand Canyon. It has a chance . If you can't do a private trip do a commercial trip. The motorized 7-day ones are an introduction. We did one in 1978 or so and I got hooked (co pilot doesn't care much for the rocket box).
