relopez98
Folks, I need some verification and help please. I got mine back last Friday after the TSB was done. Sitting in my garage on Fri. night I was reading through some of the paperwork from the repair, making sure that what they did was the same as on the TSB. I put the key in the "on" position to listen to the radio and the check engine light came on w/ all the other lights, etc. After about 30 seconds or so, it starts to blink, and blinked 7 times then went away. This is the second time this has happened, the first was during the first week after I picked it up in Aug. of 2006. The manual supplement says that if the light stays illuminated or blinks then to drive it conservatively to a dealership ASAP. It says something like the onboard diagnostic has found an error, in the manual. However, when it did it the first time, I immediately took it to the dealership and we couldn't reproduce the symptoms. It never happened again until last Friday. I'm thinking it has something to do w/ unplugging the battery for the warranty work cause the car seems to be driving fine and the system check reports no errors. Has anyone else seen or heard of this problem? Please let me know. Eric
relopez98
Trying to keep this alive; anyone else having the engine light blink when in the "on" position w/o turning the engine over? thanks.
relopez98
Went by dealer yesterday; he said that his service tech said that it is "normal" to do that once the key is in and in the "on" position for 20-30 seconds or so. I have my doubts. Can anyone else confirm?
dragpack70
On my '08 (no TSB or service work), the yellow "Service Engine Soon" light comes on with the key and stays on as long as I could stand it. The red seatbelt light next to it goes out after about a minute, but the "Service Engine Soon" light stays lit solid.

Mine goes off after I turn the engine on and while driving, it just blinks and stays on if the key is in the "on" w/o turning it over. I'd go get it checked out if I was you. dragpack70
Does it stay on after you turn the engine over? No, it goes out as soon as the engine starts. I went out only to check out the key-on/engine-off/blinking-light scenario you were questioning.

Just the damn blinking that is driving me crazy.
z1huggy
This sounds like the PCM is not relearned all its parameters after a reset (battery disconnect). It tells you that you should not do any inspection or maintenance testing. If you drive the vehicle it will eventually relearn and stop flashing when you turn the key on. Its in the owners manual. will dig it up and give you a page number. cheers Drew

07SGT4578
have you checked for any codes with a scanner. Every instance I have ever dealt with a Ford flashing a CEL light a missfire was detected in one of the cylinders. You may have a coil pack either bad or failing. This is what I thought was going on, same thing happened when I first got her home after they disconnected the battery to get past the initial "underperformance mode" that they came with new. After a while, I just stopped seeing it happen, until the TSB. have you checked for any codes with a scanner.
