New York Post Cartoon

Recommended Posts

Are you serious? Chimps/apes have been used for decades to refer to blacks, and the stimulus plan was the product of a black President.

Actually, the so-called "stimulus" package is actually Pelosi and the House's plan, not Obama's. I don't think he even read it before he signed it. So, the cartoon is hardly racist. Even if it were Obama, calling him a monkey hardly qualifies as a racial slur. I've heard of people of all races, sizes and shapes who have been called monkeys. Why there is so much reliance on this age-old race card, I'll never understand.

Of course, the liberal media will push on folks that this was a racist cartoon in order to forward their agenda, and unfortunately some people will actually believe that.

And how would you interprit the drawing?????? Mr. Fairness?????????

Don't know if your "Mr. Fairness" was to me or not, but....I interpret it to meant that the so-called Stimulus Package was created by monkees. Also, the cartoon idea was partially a result of the chimanzee attack in CT yesterday, wherein a chimp was shot after seriously attacking a woman.

I have to agree. I don't think that race was involved in this cartoon, but using the CT chimp story for this I think is in very poor taste. I think that was a pretty sad story about the chimp other than I don't think that people should own wild animals. Those kind of things happen with wild animals. But using this person's misery in a cartoon the next day is pretty week at best, and then linking it politically is even worse.

:finger::redcard: You have no right to call someone a bigot here DDT> Not sure what makes you qualified. It was an obvious link the the situation in CT and the inteligence of the two people who wrote that so called stimulous package

I think it's obviously racist, and I can't believe the paper is standing behind it.

HUH? I frankly can't believe you think there is anything racial about it?

Care to explain?

The first thing I thought of when I saw the Toon was of a TV Comedy Show where a Guy quit his Job and his BOSS said that he just quit a Job that is so easy that a Monkey could do it...............................

If you think to hard about "ANYTHING", you can always make it into something that it is NOT.........just my 2 Cents.

I usually roll my eyes at anything the "reverend" Al gets all excited about. I consider him to be one of the care takers of racial hatred and bigotry in our times.

However, anyone who is trained as a journalist or writer or anyone who is the least familiar with the history of literature in our country would know at a glance the implications of this cartoon. That an establishment of the liberal left would turn a blind eye toward the hypocrisy of condoning this in light of everything they rail against in the name of "open-mindedness" and "inclusion" is unfathomable.

Whether you personally would make an association between the cartoon and racism is beside the point (and actually, I believe that it's a good thing if you didn't. That would show some progress...).

The editors knew better. They were trained to know better and they printed it anyway.

Yes, I agree with you on that. I should have stated that as well.

You didn't name names, but you inferred that anyone who doesn't agree with you that this is a racially motivated cartoon is automatically a bigot.

Which amusingly enough is good evidence that you are a bigot by definition.

No matter who wrote it, it is referred to as Obama's stimulus plan: therefore, I stand by my opinion. The black gentleman that sits next to me at work agrees. If you don't then that's your right.

To clarify my position:

Although I believe that the cartoon is obviously racist, that does not mean that I believe that is what the artist intended when he drew it. Only the artist knows for sure, but when others point it out, the paper should have stated their intentions and apologized for some people's misinterpretation of the paper's intent; not deny it.

I've been involved in publishing articles that were misunderstood and back fired in a bad way.

This might just be one of those - only the artist knows for a fact.

Maybe the editor should have examined it more closely prior to publication

+1 I dont think there was any intent, but it could quite possibly be interpreted as some did.

Sad...I don't have the time nor the inclination to keep editing out all these profanities. Let me say that reagardless of which side of the fence you fall on when you litter your posts with :censored: and :censored: or even :censored:, then you reflect poorly on yourself and your argument.

You might want to read:

Can we debate like intelligent adults?

If this thread is going to need a bunch of editing every hour and the report button keeps getting pushed...I'm deleting it.

This is a car site and we don't need members fighting with each other calling each other names.

It is obvious, by the 'Lefts' reaction to a 'cartoon', that free speech and freedom of printed material is on the 'short' list to be censored by the, Socialist/Marxist agenda's of Obama, Pelosi and Reed. The 'Lefts' rage over a cartoon, regardless of it's, meaning is absolutely ridiculous. The harsh 'pin-point' focus on relatively obscure, statements, cartoons, or actions, by the Obama/Marxist's, and their leftie, Comrades should be a wake-up call , to all freedom supporting Americans. Of course if not for the Lefts propaganda machine, the 'Left Wing' media, none of us would have ever heard or seen, the silly cartoon.

Is this part of the AG's saying that Americans are racial cowards?

If you don't see this as racist, you're racist!

If you see it as racist, it's proof that America has a long way to go.

Nice lose-lose situation.

Was Obama's "you can put lipstick on a pig, but it's still a pig", sexist?

Lets get real my fellow Americans!

***edit

Where was this outrage and racist calling when the cartoon was of Sec. Rice?
