STLShelby
Harry Reid is on TV right now patting himself on the back and talking about how hard they worked on it. Having just had dinner I decided it was in my best interest to walk away from the TV. No need to spoil a perfectly good meal.... :barf:

JeffIsHereToo
Jeff, no one is trying to shut you up and, if anything, I should be stating what you've said; after all, you're the one who rudely slammed my post, told me how I should be researching... So with a straight face you're telling me now you haven't been just positing links with no or little commentary to stir the pot? Go back and read your post and your follow-on post where you said "No further details yet - I just received a "breaking news alert". You posted something to stir up things and I called you on it, now you suddenly and mysteriously say you knew all about the background, and cry foul? Anyway, Obama and his party are making, in my opinion, very serious errors in his presidency and bringing much harm, and potential danger, to the USA by his actions and the actions of his party, with various actions which he pledged he would take before the elections (which is why I voted against him). I voiced opposition to his plans then, and now I am voicing opposition to his enactment of those plans. Therefore, its not "slamming him in his first month", its merely a continuation. Honestly, I had really hoped that he may not carry out some of these things, but it looks like he's going to.

To see with such blinders on amazes me. Where is it that you think the American empire will gone forever? Our 300 million comprise 5% of the world's population, but we consume more than 20% of the world's resources. We could get away with that after WWII, but we 're not the top dog anymore and you guys are having serious issues with that reality. We are just another member of the world community and we can't continue the policies of the past 8 years. That was certain to doom us. We need to get along with the rest of the world. And don't shoot off one of those - here's another guy who hates America, then produces a list of great things we do for the world..flag-waving all the way. If we're doing such great things - why is there such hate for us? The problem is - the selfishness and sense of entitlement that you feel we're owed for all the great things we've done. That would have been our undoing with another administration like the last. At least now we have a chance to fix things and save this country and this world again - and regain the respect we've lost. Sorry what was I thinking. WOW. How far off base could you be? Still thinking as if this is the 50s or 70s. So we have more nukes - nukes that will never be used. So what? China has over a billion people. We're in debt up to a $1 trillion just to the Chinese alone. We're stretched in a two theater war in Iraq and Afghanistan. And we're the world's super power? That would have been our undoing with another administration like the last. At least now we have a chance to fix things and save this country and this world again - and regain the respect we've lost. Close minded? Me? That's funny. If anything, it is the liberals who are closed minded. They are too close minded to see what their actions are doing to the USA and the world. Also, what did you mean by the American empire? I was not aware that we had an "empire". If anything, America is the strongest nation in history to ever NOT have an empire. It does not exist to take over other nations; rather, it exists to promote and defend democracy. Policies of the past 8 years? I'm not so concerned with just the past 8 years. I'm concerned with what liberals have done to the USA and the world in the past 50 years, and what they are still trying to do now and in the future. So who is more close minded - the person who thinks only about today and the now, and intstant gratification, or the person who is has knowledge of the teachings and lessons of history, the present, and concerns for the future and the impact on future generations? Do I think you hate America? I don't know, you tell me, I don't know you at all, but liberals tend to say and believe that we as Americans do everything wrong and apologize to the world (like Obama did to all the Muslims for some strange reason), but I don't think that's hate, I think its confusion. So you think that I am a selfish person, and that I feel like I am entitled to everything? Wrong again, my friend. Not only don't you know me personally enough to conclude such a thing, I am far from selfish. What do you give of yourself to your community and society? I give quite a bit, and I don't feel like anyone owes me anything, like so many democrats...no, if anything I feel like I don't do enough to contribute and help, and I strive to do more. And just how are the liberals fixing this country - by such things as supporting abortion and killing over a million children a day? By supporting actions which lead to the destruction of marriage and families? By nationalizing our country to the point that their driving religious gatherings out of all public areas due to a mythical interpretation of "separation of church and state"? By believing that their is no right or wrong in the world, but instead whatever feels good do it? Liberals and democrats (and those who vote for them) have a lot to learn and much to open their minds to. In the meantime, I'll be casting my votes, and taking whatever reasonable steps that I can take, in support of my beliefs, and pray for the rest, and if I can even help convince one liberal to see the light, I'll feel like I contributed a great deal. 69dejavue
I remember a paper I once wrote on the cause of the American Civil War. I stated that the true cause was that the form of government had never been decided after the American Revolution. There were Federalists, and anti-Federalists. They did not agree. The disagreement led to the American Civil War. The country is once again polarized. Maybe we should just allow some states to go their own way and people to decide where they would like to live. Now that would be freedom of choice. Guess we will never see such freedom of choice. But when extremists come to power there will be an extreme response. Just my prediction. The prediction will hopefully be non-violent at the ballot box.

It really baffles me. I think his view of our country and the world is spot on. Liberalism and multi culturalism are conspiring to ruin this country. I for one will not apologize for being an American. I have no desire for the U.S. to become like Europe. I don't really care if we "get along" with other countries as long as they leave us alone and stay out of our business. I'm glad I'm already 48 years old as I would hate to have to grow up in the liberal socialist utopia the Dems are planning for us.
GT500FLYBOY
The good news - we won. And given the continued partisan stance of the Republicans - voting unanimously against Obama - we'll just have to vote them out. Come the next Congressional elections - we will have to complete the work we've begun - and give the Democrats the complete controlling majority. It's come to that - it's the only way to straighten out this country. And here again - we have isolationists and racists looking for secession. Looks like we'll now have to win that argument once more. You don't like the rights, freedoms and liberties of our country - then leave it. That doesn't mean you get to break it up.
