2008 Shelby GT-R

The SGT-C(alifornia) guys/gals have their own thread, and maybe one day there will be interest in a BJ (Arizona) owner thread.

So is there any interest in a thread for the owners of the 2008 SGT-R special edition? If so then this is your thread to post stories and pictures of your SGT-R.

SGT-R edition you ask? Never heard of it. This was a limited run of 08 SGTs. Here's a picture of a SGT-R with a SGT-C. At the time it was thought to only be an ordinary SGT.

The Shelby GT-R only came in Vista Blue and were only available in the United States. Like the SGT-C, the SGT-R had nondescript "SHELBY GT" rocker stripes. But unlike the SGT-C, the SGT-R was available as a convertible.

Maybe you own a Shelby GT-R and didn't even know it. They weren't well advertised and many Ford dealers didn't know what they had. While it mentioned the SGT-C and BJ editions on the last page, even this year's Shelby magazine failed to mention the little known SGT-R.

If you own a Vista Blue 08 Shelby GT and your CSM# is between 08SGT0218 and 08SGT2200 then you are the proud owner of a SGT-R. Roger Sorel can tell us exactly which one was the last 08 SGT-R.

Like the infamous 1965 GT-350R, the 2008 Shelby GT-R is rapidly becoming one of the most sought after Shelbys.

SGT-R(est of US).

"US" having 2 meanings: Rest of United States and, Rest of US 08SGT owners.

Actually between csm#'s 07SGT0400-07SGT500 were the SGT-R's as well, they were noter by a magic marker "R" under the rear taillight. Drivers side. These cars were faster and the "Performance White" ones were even faster than the 08's or any other SGT-R due to lighter weght paint as well.

07SGT-Rs? Hmmm. Well that is the topic of another thread.

Kinda like the subject of the even rarer 08 SGT-SR. These were 08SGT-Rs that were even faster than the 07SGT-Rs. Why? because they were tuned for 93 octane, hence the "S" for Supreme octane. Also they were lighter than the 07 SGT-Rs as they had no clearcoat on the paint, plus special tires filled with helium. And while their 18" wheels looked like other SGT wheels they were made of titanium.

08SGT-SRs were numbered 0220-0220...very exclusive with silver fender stripes, special CS wheel caps, matching Vista Blue side mirror inserts, silver trim around the quarter windows, lower grille fog lights, Shelby GT rear medallion, and a Terlingua sticker only on the driver's side (for weight reduction). Only SGT faster were the SGT/SCSRs (supercharged SRs)...so rare that none have been made yet.

Again, the SGT-BS edition is probably a topic for another thread. This is strictly for the 08SGT-R.

But I think you are on to something...the 07SGT-R, 08SGT-SR, and 08SGT-SCSR were all also known as the SGT-BS, but the 08SGT-R is a true special edition (well to me it is :) ).
