Hurst Line locks

Recommended Posts

I am sure this has probably been discussed before but could not locate anything. I am thinking about installing a line lock and have a few questions. First off, those who have....

did you install yourself? Was it pretty straight forward on the install/set-up? Did you buy a universal install kit? Here is the one I am looking at but am open to suggestions. Thanks, Craig

I got the same thing from Summit and had my shop install it, they had to do something with the ABS. They also put in an actual on/off switch for safety (lower left red switch)

This is watch we did on the inside of the Shelby, also got the knob from Summit

It makes it really easy to do this :peelout::peelout::peelout::peelout::peelout:

Good luck

Hi Craig,

I installed the Hurst line lock kit from RPM Outlet. It comes with the modified brake line with fittings. It took about 90 minutes total including bleeding the brakes. I also like to solder and shrink wrap all electrical connections and use wire loom and tie wraps wherever possible. I would avoid any crimp on connectors.

I did not like the switch that comes with the kit and I tried the Hurst Sidewinder shift knob (with built in switch) but it's a bigger diameter and I wasn't crazy about the button location so I bought a switch (normally off button type) and drilled out the small diameter Hurst shift knob and made this one myself.

Good Luck...

i bought the Granatelli tire fryer line lock kit. this kit is straight forward with instructions, no modifications to the ABS. I also went with the hurst pistol grip shifter with button and installed my indicator light up in the map light. Looks awesome!! works awesome!!! But the only downfall is the life of your rear tires when you activate it :doh: I still have a set of rubber marks a block long on my street after i let go of the button. It kind of adds to the neighborhood i thought :happy feet:

Very carefully…

Yes I did drill out the knob myself on a drill press, one hole for the switch and a smaller hole for the wire. Measure twice, drill once.

The knob is some type of plastic composite so it's pretty easy to drill through, but you do only get one shot per knob.

I had the GMS Tire Fryer Kit on my previous stang (2005 GT). I had it wired with a relay and switch so that the line locks were activated by pressing the cruise control off button. The switch allow me two modes, Race Mode and Normal. When Normal, the cruise control off button was part of the cruise control system. When in Race Mode, the cruise control off button worked with the Line Locks. Soon I'll do the same with my SGT. Could you post a photo of the GMS Line Locks mounted near the FRPP CAI. I bet it's very close and perhaps you had to make some minor change or adjustment to the CAI Shield? -Steve

Can you share a photo of the GMS Tire Fyer kit installed in your SGT? Below is the kit installed in my previous stang (2005 GT), and there doesn't appear to be the same room in the SGT because of the FRPP/Steeda CAI.
