It should be noted that you will be unable to remove the filter until you bleed off the pressure so you can't skip this step!.

Yes indeed. It is also a safety precaution so the fuel does not squirt all over and get you in the face or eyes.

take it for what its worth. ive always been told on mod. motors a lot of local guys reccomend to change the filter every oil change. might be over kill. but i let mine go over by a few miles and could tell a world of difference when i changed it.

Mine idled for maybe 45 seconds. And during that 45 seconds, it idled poorly shortly after starting and until it died.

Mine definitely was idling like normal.

I pulled the harness plug in the trunk per the instructions, and let it run for almost 10 mins. What did I miss? :drop:

  • 4 years later...

With the two fuel modules disconnected, mine started right up and idled rough, sounding like it was pinging; the engine must of run like this for a minute before it finally died; thought it was going to continue forever. Then I tried cranking again to make sure the lines were depressurized per the shop manual but each time I cranked the engine it started up but died shortly after. I must have done this about six times before quitting and just disconnected the filter. There was still some pressure in the fuel line but the installation went fine. The next day I noticed that the check engine light was on with a code of P0301 - cylinder 1 misfire detected. I cleared the code and it hasn't returned so I suspect the problem must have occurred while the engine was idling with the fuel modules disconnected. Anyone else encounter this while changing the fuel filter?
