How To Glue the Rear-end....

...to the road. I've installed J&M UCA, LCAs, panhard; and Vogtland Sport Springs in attempts to improve the overall traction and stability of the car. It did get rid of the wheel hop, but now the car has ALOT more fish-tailing going on, especially if power applied in turns. Has anyone found the magic formula to make this solid rear axle rear-end stick to the damn road better? :headscratch:

Heading down to one of Griggs Racings east coast shops today to discuss that very issue.....

When i installed the Ford CAI with tune first gear could not hook up. The rear end was really all over the place. The SGT is a much better handler than the GT500. I wish Ford would take the 5.4 ( no supercharger ) and get 400 -450 HP lower it like the SGT and call it a Mach 1. Then you would have a great all around car. The GT500 needs to handle like the SGT from the FACTORY. WTF did we pay all that money for. Ford needs to stop making 80% cars, so Shelby can complete the rest. Get it right the first time or don't call it a Shelby. The rear end is so high it is stupid looking. When Top Gear did a road test they laughed @ the whale.

These cars are not only for the drags. The first GT350 was a road car. This was my Last Ford product . For $43000+ there's alot to choose from, and doesn't have to look like a BOY RACER and handle like a whale.

Sorry for the rant, but the US auto makers are living to much in the past. Big heavy V/8's OHV 50's s--t ( chevy-Dodge) Now that gas is cheaper they will continue down this path to nowhere.

This is next on my list, but will probably wait until spring. The other day I was out and it was about 40 degrees out. I was in a 2 lane turn intersection with a cop next to me. When the light changed I let the clutch out and the rear tires broke loose. The cop tried to give me a bad look before he busted up laughing. Needless to say, I was not amused.

I think to get the GT500 to handle like the SGT just have your tuner dumb down your engine to 319 hp (about half in my case). Personally I like the rake stock as well as lowered.

Actually I wanted an SGT, but bought the GT 500 for the not-so-boy-racer look and the fact that it rode better. I realize I may be in the minority, but I find the stock tune, ride and driveability most suitable to me. My take on the GT 500 is a Grand Touring car, not a drag racer or street racer (although I'm not beyond the occasional stop light grand prix). Again, I realize I am in the minority here. Stickier tires seem to be the most inexpensive and logical answer.

I have a different take. I love the look and feel of my Shelby GT500. I've never owned another car that has received so much attention and thumbs up while driving. ( Even from Cops) It is what it is. A fuel and rubber burning American Icon. I'll drive mine until they take it away.

Yep at 440whp you are going to spin hard ass street tires> At 540whp you are going to spin them twice as fast. lol

The cars got a freaking bunch of power, make the best of it.................................and dont just stomp it in first.:)

Coming from an 03 Mach 1 this was something to be learned. But trying not to smoke the tires on a quick stoplight launch, while getting off the line ASAP, can get pretty tricky.

To be able to launch hard without going up in smoke would make this car MUCH quicker.

I agree your conv does not have that boy racer look (it looks GREAT ). But Ford needs to deliver a product right the first time. There is no excuss for the rear to sit that high, and expect the car to handle in the $46000 price range. The KR is the way it needed to come from the factory. My GT500 red with white stripes was just to hard to show up in @ a dinner party or adult party. I would leave it home and drive somthing else. It had that look @ me image that started to get old. Maybe IM just to old for this car, who knows.

Just get the car" from the factory" to sit like a SGT next time.
