AndyGJ
I thought this was too cool not to post this story. I took my daughter up to my sister's house for her daughter's Birthday party yesterday. The weather was great here in Atlanta - Sunny and about 62 degrees, so I decided to take the Shelby GT. We rode with the top up, but after I dropped off my daughter, I put the top down and drove the 20 minute ride back home. I pulled out onto the highway and looked up ahead to see an old AC Cobra in a similar Vista Blue color with white stripes just a quarter mile ahead of me. I quickly caught up to him and gave him thumbs up as I pulled along side of him. It was a 427 Cobra with side pipes and driver's chrome roll bar. He took off in front of me and I followed him for a few miles watching as everyone around us pointed and looked at both cars as we drove down Highway 400 in Atlanta. After a few minutes, he exitted the highway and we waved at each other as he moved to the far right lane. It was one of those rare moments that I wish I has someone following me with a digital camera just to capture this moment. I exitted at the next exit ramp to get on to home. I still had a large grin on my face when I walked back in the door. My wife still doesn't understand why I was so thrilled about the chance meeting on the highway.... I told her it was the God Father of my Shelby GT from the 1965 era..... Andy.

twobjshelbys
I would have asked him to pull off and compare notes. We have a hood scoop in common you know.
StokedShelbyOwner
I keep my camera in my laptop case which is on the seat next to me 90% of the time. Of course I end up taking lots of pics not nearly as cool as the scene you described. At least you will always have the mental pics Alan

AndyGJ
I would have asked him to pull off and compare notes. We have a hood scoop in common you know. While we were driving side by side, the first thing I noticed was the 427 Powered by Ford badge. The second thing I looked at was his Hood Scoop - NO JOKE!! I wanted to ask him to stop and talk for a minute, but I couldn't stay side by side long enough to ask him. That is when I made the decision to go purchase an inexpensive digital camera this week to permanently keep in the glove box. It would have made one sweet picture...plus I could have taken a few close-ups of his scoop!! It was definitely great for a ton of mental pictures...those two cars going side by side in the same color down the highway was one to remember. Just wish I had it on film!! My Dad was at the Birthday Party that I dropped my daughter off at. I called him last night and told him about the Surprise Meeting, and he laughed and said,"You should have taken me home with you." He just lives about 3 miles South of where I live. I think next time he will jump in the car...just in case!! Andy.

Andy, Here's a couple Cobra scoop photos for you. When I'm driving the Cobra I have never run into another Shelby (any type) driver that didn't wave. You make a good point, the Cobra is the Grandfather of all Shelby autos. Shelby owners form a great fraternity. Chip

It still would not be as impressive as the pictures you have shared of your corral of vehicles...very impressive!! By the way, congrats on the new GT 500 purchase!! You have the whole family from the God Father on down the line-up. Andy.
