sleepless
Anyone else find the Ford Racing dampers, as provided on the Shelby GT, a bit on the stiff side? The car seems to hop over bumps on the street and track. I even have some issues with the rear hopping under hard braking. I'm thinking of switching to the Tokico D-Spec adjustable dampers so I can still make it stiff on smooth tracks. But, Pacific Raceways really seems to scream for a softer setup... stump_breaker
I think that a good idea. They are way too stiff for normal driving especially if you live on backroads like I do.
sleepless
Well, it turns out the Ford dampers were not the issue; it was the rear LCA positioned too low in the relocation brackets. We raised it one hole to make the LCA closer to parallel to the ground and it is not so harsh now. Ran great at the track. I was reading How to Make Your Car Handle over the weekend and it had some diagrams and discussion of roll centers and instant centers for a 3 link rear suspension and that is what clued me in. Great book if you really want to understand suspensions!
