Franky's 500
I'm looking for wheels for my 2007 Shelby GT500 and I know I'm not the only one that has gotten frustrated with the limited number of options out there, aside from getting something custom made or something that everyone else doesn't already have. It also seems that many of the people I've spoken with from various wheel manufacturers are not terribly educated or confident in the fitment for the GT500; I either get "don't worry, they'll fit" or without even researching give me the "no, they won't fit". I'm just trying to figure out what type of offsets, or range of offsets, we can run in both the front and rear of our cars. I'm trying to do a staggered set-up, like many others here, in the typical 9-9.5" front width and 10-10.5 rear width. Apparently offset doesn't mean everything; the shape of the face of the wheel and the backspacing has some effect as well. I've got sales people telling me that their 10.5 with a 30mm offset will work and I don't see how considering the factory 9.5's are a 45mm offset. Before I ramble on, someone please enlighten me. I'd like to be better educated and possibly broaden the range of potential wheel possibilities out there. Thanks in advance for any help.
