MSRP, Invoice, and beyond...

Hi all,


This is more a general question than specific to KRs. There is a dealership near me that is offering $10k off (plus rebates) on most 2008 Mustangs, including Roushes and SGTs. They aren't dealing like that on GT500's, but I was wondering how this is even possible. This pricing is obviously well below invoice - are they simply losing money on every deal, or is there another step in here I'm not aware of? I always though invoice was pretty much the bottom price for a new car, but it appears not. Market factors aside, if they can cut a deal like this on regular Mustangs, then in theory they should be able to cut a deal like that on a GT500 (or KR), right? Or is Ford somehow sponsoring those price drops?
