Next time the East Coast Mustang cartel gathers at the beach - ol' Ruf is gonna get a little more respect!

I'm trying to locate a dyno in Cary NC - so I can see some hard data on the hp numbers.

You guys show no mercy.

Okay - I have bad thoughts.

And I might have looked at porn at some point in the past.... :fan:

Gee ,with a list of penny saving measures like that I say why not add a set of slicks to the order. Especially with all those "coupons " that you use on a daily basis. :hysterical::hysterical:

" But dear just imagine how much I'm saving by not having a boat, not to mention any dresses."...its only a couple of cams :hysterical2:

[ Sorry Ruf, you left yourself wide open, I couldn't resist. ]

not to mention the dry-cleaning savings of no dresses... and don't forget.... :hysterical:

.

The Cams are Coming! The Cams are Coming! :bandance:

...the bill will follow....the bill will follow...what have I done.........

Cams good ... Bills bad... RUFstang quick ;)

:bandance:

-----------------------------------

The sound of RUFstang S-II! lope-ity-lope lope-ity-lope ...Oh, yeah...

[can't get insert-link to work on this computer, so just copy-paste the link below:]

http://video.google.com/videoplay?d...300067508433102

Oh, those are Comp cams on an '01 GT ;-) sweet!

<edit:> Bryan, were you figuring about 35-75rwHP from stage-III cams (70-75 with a dyno tune)? With heads/intake porting/bench flowed, then maybe 90-115??? I've been poking around on the net quite a bit today and that seems to be the approx ranges.

Anyone see any dyno runs with similar/diff info??? Just curious... because it's often hard to tell if headers/CAI/injectors/etc were included... I could not find any hard dyno data posted that explicitly listed all other mods, but I'll keep lookin'. Maybe more with the right goodies and tune?

You - are - killin' - me - over - here with the linkey no workey!

I want to hear them!

Dave at Brenspeed says that I should probably see around 375 at the wheels with all the mods. Then - with the 4:10's - a bit more bang for de buck!

Not a Pro Stocker - but probably enough to engage some C6's with confidence.

Ya see, I've got this neighbor.......

On another front - my Ford tech suggests taking off the front sway bar to increase weight transfer on launch. Opinions?

Oh - and the total now is about $34k for car, parts, labor. $11k less than a Shelby coupe (at MSRP). I have spent a lot of time on this - but its been time well spent. It's getting harder and harder to pull into the parking lot at work. :shift:

Hmmm.... For some reason it works from there but not otherwise...

Sorry for the bad link... try this, Bryan... paste the link below to Mustangworld and then click on the link in post #10. That should work (at least it worked when I just tried it).

Well - if that's how it's going to sound - I may have to start wearing Depends. :baby:

I'm not sure if the stage III will sound as lopey - but if they do, I'll be spending a lot of time idling!

Yeah, should be a little milder -- does DMV in NC have annual emissions testing? Sure hope not.

---

Re pulling front swaybar: can't see how that's going to affect weight transfer -- it's a side-to-side thing ;-) Even if it did help a little (how I don't know) you would not be very happy, I think, with the handling ... major body roll and would be downright dangerous with just a rear sway and no front. Actually, I think your tech is way off the mark suggesting pulling the front swaybar being a good idea, unless on a track-only car.

Maybe he has a odd sense of humor? :hysterical:

Sway bar stays on. He's a little shaky on Fridays!

Emission testing is probably 2 years out - but I know people who will be testing...

Unlike CT, where they have stand alone facilities for emissions - down here they'll use garages/shops.

Weather might shut down our car show tomorrow. Sucks.

Oh, you're So Funny, Beach Boy!

You weren't crouching too low and too close to Commander Orf's Nitro Funny Car with the Chris-Craft exhaust as he tried his best to knock me off my feet. :fan:

Dan - what's the matter - you don't like my "refined" Bassani's?

How about those Ultra-Cool sequential brake lights?

<lol> aw, didn't mean to imply that, my RUFstang bro! But just wait until the duration and overlap of those stage-III cams light up the high notes in them thar Bassani's ;-) :woohoo:

I think the Corsa's work great with the GT500 and they sounded wicked on EC's stock GT, but I think you'll be glad you have the Bassani's after the cams so you don't send them thar li'l kids an' ol' ladies scurrying fer cover!

< my fingers seem to have caught a redneck flu thar fer a spell -- oh :ohsnap: there they go again! >

Just got back from the Rufstang's Car Show debut.

Good turnout. Lots of high-dollar cars. They said 122 entered.

We landed a Top Forty trophy! :cheerleader:

Lots of good feedback.

I'll post a couple of pics when I get them developed.

I've got some good pics of other Mustangs, too.

Ruf - out.

Car shows can be fun.

It's interesting to sit and watch and listen to the comments.

Today, there was this younger (30's) black guy circling the Rufstang for 10 minutes.

He was looking and looking and looking.

Finally, he comes up to me, in my folding chair, and strikes up a conversation.

Short version:

"Man, I got to tell ya, I'm a Chevy man. But this Mustang is hot. (then points to a couple of Vettes across from me) If I had to pick one here - it's this Mustang."

We talked about cars for 30 minutes before he moved on. He was into detail - like me.

Another guy stopped and talked after he looked around the car for at least 15 minutes.

Turns out this guy (in his 70's) used to own a number of dealerships. He currently owns a new Shelby - a Ford GT-40 (red with white stripes) and a dozen other Fords (including an '01 Cobra). He was dressed very casually and was very friendly. (and he had a Model T entered in the show - that scored a trophy) He then spent a good amount of time talking to me about my car and what I'd done to it.

My point? He and I travel in different circles, but for that brief period of time - we had much in common.

Time well spent!

Ruf - That is so cool. Sounds like a hole lot of fun. I have never done anything like that, but hearing you tell the story realy interests me. Next summer I am going to suggest to my wife Tana tha twe go to a couple of the local car shows. We could have the His & Hers thing going. The GT/CS and the Shelby GT500. B)

How cool -- car and car culture was (and is still) such a deeply brewed part of our social fabric growing up -- it made you walk miles to spy a secret grudge race as a young teen; made you pack your car on Thursday night and drive it to New Jersey at 0:dark:30 early Friday morning just so you could get an extra jump on traffic after work Friday just to get a marginally better camping/viewing spot at Watkin Glenn for the weekend races; it made you do whatever you had to do to have pride in your ride and share it with your friends and anyone else you never even saw before -- it was that glue that pinned so much together.

Sure hope you told that gent about Stangs Unleashed here too!

What then, awaits our younger generation?

Tales of golf carts?

I worry about this.

Edit: Bill - there were 5 members of the Chrome Pony car club at the show today.

They were great people!

They're based in Elizabeth City, NC. I'll keep you updated!

Walking to the ends of the earth to buy a cool golf shirt -- so that Santa will put a 'vette in their stocking? <lol -- just kidding 'vette lurkers and bi-branded friends ;-) >

Speaking of golf carts: there are places popping up on the web that specialize in radical golf carts: jacked up with big wheels and spinners, scoups and wings -- haven't seen any electric fart cans yet, but I don't doubt they're out there :hysterical: but the whole custom golf cart thing is hot.

Ford contracted Boyd Coddington to do a '32 Ford Pedalcar -- a real from-scratch one-off piece. I'm betting that means that Ford will feature at leat one slick '32 Ford resto and a custom rod at SEMA - it's the flathead's 75th anniversary afterall!!! Actually, I'm sort of suprised that Ford has resisted doing a production retro '32 Ford roadster (I want to say Prowler-like, but that'd be.. well, I won't...). Maybe if Ford finances were better, but what a cool car that could be!

So, in the future will there be retro Honda Civic remakes with factory fart cans down the road? Damn, now that's a scary thought!!!! :hysterical2: ... and does that mean tape and sticker SEs will be the preferred approach? :hysterical:

OK, so don't put me on the International Automotive Cross-brand Welcoming Committee - see if I care! ;)

Deja vu....If you listen closely you can hear RUF's tupee hit the ground.

:hysterical:

Thanks for the sound on both cars.

My question for both Ruf and Orf is this...Is there any exhaust "Drone" at the 1800- 2200 rpm range when in normal driving mode ?

My son-inlaw has a 05GT vert and wants an aftermarket sys but is afraid of the dreaded drone.

I was wondering myself for the GT500.

Thanks , George...

I know I'm a bit slow (my Shelby won't be though), but do most of you agree that Bassani is the way to go? And what did most you you pay for parts and installation? (If you don't mind my asking?) I'm really only interested in two mods at this point (if I ever get the thing) --wheels which I can't afford for a while, and exhaust.
