shelbymotorsports
It looks like two B-J edition Shelby GT's will find a new home at the Vegas auction October 15-18. One will be auctioned off October 18th (lot #819.1) and the other will be a grand prize at the Barrett Jackson branded Slot Machines. cobra2go
I caught a couple hours on TV tonite - thought there were some reasonable buys considering the economy today. Until a 74 Firebird Trans Am sold for $70K! They called it the last of the muscle cars - it had 455 cid 290 hp ... far from the days of the real muscle cars. I would have bought the 68 Charger 440 for $55K and spent the rest at the casino!
robertlane
Those Trans Ams are bringing some serious coin.
Son of GT
One of the main selling points of that Firebird was that the engine was a Super Duty 455. Forged crank, rods, pistons, and oval exhaust ports in the heads. Only 290 H.P., but the block has the potental to make much more than that. Also, in 1974, car companies had already switched from SAE gross to SAE net hp (I think the switch was made in 1972). Consequently, compared to the late '60s-early '70s muscle cars, the '74 Trans Am H.P. disadvantage was not as bad as it looks on paper.

Last time I was there in Aug and Sept they now have.... .... ... . . eBay slot machines! What a racket. I can't believe they licensed their logo/name for that. I guess eBay really is gambling, eh? It could outperform and out handle many of the classic 60's musclecars. Steve

David Hawkins
Was the Trans Am Red.......................... I could have sworn it had the 1970 to 1973 Front End on it, could be wrong though. Those Baby Birds went pretty Cheap, a Black 55 and a Red 57. I will be watching tonight 6pm to midnight and most of Saturday.......... David.

I felt the industry die after 72 when hp ratings went down, and body styles started to change. I guess I'm still hanging onto the good old days with our new Shelbys! sudden
A really nice low mileage 68 GT500 KR went for a very low price of 105 K. Last year that car was in the 160-190K range. If you got the bucks now is the time to buy cheap! SUDDEN.
shelbymotorsports
Prices started to go up on Friday compared to Thursdays sales. Larger crowd on Friday. I suspect the same trend will happen today (Saturday). Custom cars seem to be hurting the most. Just not much interest in them by the lack of bidding. twobjshelbys
For what it's worth, i took mine out for a swell drive today. Down to Boulder and back. twobjshelbys
On the TV they moved from a really sweet T-bird to JFK's Continental. The T-Bird wasn't listed in the list JFK's car sold for $190K. A piece of American History. As they like to say, Nicely Sold and Bought.
twobjshelbys
'70 stang #816. Grabber blue. Moved the battery to the trunk. $187K. The week could have been worse. Now is the T-bird that I thought was on before the JFK car, coming up. #817 McCulloch (sp) is Paxton Superchargers. Talk about a Mustang/Shelby heritage. $145K. This was another "work of art" car.
