No - the casters are there. I'm just as bad. Maybe worse. No - that's not possible.

Your job is allmost done. You still have some work to do to complete the job. :P

This is what you still need to do:

1. Cacoon wrap - Shrink wrap the box to keep the moisture out.

2. Lube & Condem - The shaft needs to be lubed to prevent it from rusting. Then bag it for extra protection.

3. Foam paddding - how would you like to sleep on that hard board ? :hysterical:

I just use a dolly. I'm hoping that box doesn't move from that spot for many years. The basement is airconditioned so I didn't worry about the cacoon wrap.

So you sold your tranny.

What are these babys worth?

Grabber, My tranny was swapped out before i even bought the car! I didnt find out until a month after. They told me its warrenty and they didn't need to tell me! I was so pissed and hurt. So my car doesn't have the original tranny. I do have all the paperwork showing it was done at 6 miles. I bought the car with 42 miles on it. Wish i knew.So at least I have all the paperwork and the original motor Ha!!HA! Hope it dont hurt my car that much. Man it gets me mad. I evn have an email that the dealer sent me saying they dont put the vin on the GT500's what a lie.

this is what they wrote me what a joke

Jason,

I am sorry for the delay. In dealing with Ford Motor Company and Shelby, here is what we were told. The GT 500’s that are built now do not have a vin#, or vin specific number on the transmission like the old Shelby ’s. We also checked our 2009 Shelby GT 500 that we have in stock to verify what we were told, and no vin specific numbers were located by us. Years ago your issue would have been valid. I presented your complaint and concerns to both my Ford Service and Sales Representatives, and Ford Motor Company assisted me in the matter but are not willing to assist you monetarily. Valley Ford is also not obligated to you monetarily. We did what Ford Motor Company required us to do regarding the paint and transmission under warranty when we received the car with 2 miles on it. Ford and Shelby both insisted on replacing the transmission at the time in lieu of Valley Ford rebuilding it, and we felt it was in the best interest to the consumer to replace it as well.

Sincerely,

The Ford GT40 supercar and the GT500 are the only cars that Ford takes the time to stamp the last 8 of your VIN # on the side of the tranny. Some people could care less, but this has some value to me.

As someone else already said, Federal Law mandates that the VIN will be stamped on the major parts of a Vehicle. I belive that was mandated in about 1977 when they went to a 17 digit VIN code.

I was told by a California Highway Patrol (CHP) officer that is the "Stolen Vehicle" VIN specialist at the Salinas CA CHP office that there are 6 "CVIN's" stamped on a motor vehicle (including Motorcycles). They are called C VIN because the C stands for Confidential Vehicle Identification Number. They won't tell you where they are at but as a former car collector, I've learned where to look for them and I have found all 6 on various cars.

The most obvious VIN is:

1. Dash (visible through the WS)

2. Engine.

3. Transmission

4. Rear Axle tube

5. Trunk lip/rear half of car (under the seal on the lip of the body)

6. Cowl/front half of car (on the firewall, near the heater box).

Do you remember how they caught one of the domestic terrorists we had (Tim McViegh)?

The rear axle from the truck he rented was found and they got the VIN from it.

Maybe it was the first Twin-tower bomber, but I remember that's how they caught one of the bombers.

Phill Pollard
