Ok, this is the frist time I have ever posted a photo album.

We had such a great time, met many wonderful people from all over that I felt it was about time I figure this out.

My only regret, we did not get photos of everyone and their cars.

Here is what we do have. We hope you enjoy them.

I swear I added a post noting that I couldn't access the Jim C Snapfish photos.

Even after signing up, no joy.

Anyone else?

Same here, can't get to them and we have a Snapfish account, too.

Ok I will check it out and see what I can do. Bear with me, this is the first time I have attempted to post a photo a album.

Thanks

It worked! And well worth it.

A very fine record of The Way It Was, as well as some art-y stuff.

Thank you for that.

If I am the Frank with the Nice Car (I am, but maybe not the one you were addressing) I didn't get a signature on the car. It's not a Shelby, and I reckon it wouldn't be fair or appropriate to ask The Man to do a signing. I would have asked him to sign the Shelby Strut Tower Brace, but never had the opportunity. It still works good, anyway.

Thanks again for the photo views.

Tony, you got it right.

After repairing all the damage from being peppered with loose road rock; I am going to get the clear bra put on my car front, hood and sides.

I was apposed to them because I they turn yellow after a while but nothing is worth repainting your car after each road rally.

For that price I think I will check with a renowned painter and old friend to see about getting a (complete car) custom repaint. I just hope I can get him out of retirement. :shift:

Still all said and done what a blast! :happy feet: We are glade we were there.

Jenni, Bubbles & Tracey,

Wait, Bubbles, uh my mistake that was someone else.

Jenni & Tracey thanks and I hope we all meet again at the next event and Let Mr. Shelby know that Shirley and I give our thanks for a great time and experience.

Hi Jim,

I would say repirs costs would be about the same but it was worth every penny of it. It just somehow feels better when I say I got my first rock chip in my windshield from a 9-testicled black super snake passing me at around 140mph. I mean, doesn't that sound better than getting a rock chip from a construction materials truck at 55mph on the 10 freeway???? I'm not fixing mine for awhile. Goodluck with your body and paint guy!! Take care

ps, I need to hear more about the insulator mother lode.

I am working on getting back to the location for some photos. But it is just like you said.

They are lower to the ground then normal.

There are a few problems to over come.

Like there is live line mixed with the unused unwired side and it is on a main road.

Shirley and I were talking about them on the way home and when we saw them we looked at each other and said we have to tell Maria & Bill.

Give me a little more time I will shoot you a few photos so you can determine if they are obtainable or not.

To all of my caravan mates (in no particular order):

Todd & Christine, Randal & Jean, Bill & Maria, Jenni, Tracey, John, Bob, Jim & Shirley, Ken & Krystal, Michael and Charlie,

Thanks for the great experience. The event itself was great but getting there was definitely half the fun. Y'all made the whole adventure twice as memorable as it would have been. The instant Shelby shows at all of the gas stations were a hoot. Good times. We will never be able to recapture the whole experience but I wouldn't mind hanging with all of you again and trying.

It has been madness here in the Just Tony household - my daughter is getting married in a week and it's crunch time. But I have managed to find a window of sanity (everyone else is gone and I home alone today :happy feet: ) so I thought I would take the time to add a few pictures and tell a few untold stories.

This is Chad (ccmellies). He drove his 08 SGT vert so we gravitated to each other with our blue/silver verts. We shared duties driving my GT500 in the drag relay. Chad did a great job pulling a first ever (for him) J-turn and made our run competitive.

This is Adam Simmond. Adam is from England. We met at the Lajitas International Airport as I was lining up for the escorted ride to Alpine after the drag races. He was looking out for an empty seat for the high speed drive and asked if I had a seat available. He had flown in from England (duh! ) and had a non-Ford rental car but wanted to participate in all of events that he had paid for. I said sure and he took the passenger seat. I drove the high speed run to Alpine and he took pictures for me (thanks Adam). We chatted on the way (he's got 3 Mustangs at home - an '06 and two '67s) and shared some interests and views. There is a Border Patrol station about 20 miles south of Alpine where all cars must stop for an interrogation inspection. We were second in line and when asked if we were US citizens, we answered honestly that Adam was not. Unfortunately, Adam left his passport in his rental car (a little excited about going on the high speed run? :fool: ) so they quarantined us off to the side until they got through the rest of the Shelby column. Joining us in the quarantine area was the Dutch couple, Patrick and Astrid. They had their passports but didn't produce them quickly enough to suit the BP agents. We watched as all of our event mates paraded past us including Mr. & Mrs. Shelby in their GT-H. Finally the agents came over to the quarantine area and quickly dismissed Patrick and Astrid after they reviewed their passports. Adam gave them his UK drivers license and they ran his name/DOB and got no hits. And when I say no hits, I mean no record of him even entering the country. After a bit of a delay they relented and let us go. You got to admit, he doesn't fit the typical illegal immigrant profile. We rejoined the group and headed into Alpine. We are now at the end of the line and as we snake through this little SW Texas town we lost contact with the front of the group. Some friendly locals told us which turns to make to get to our specific destination which was unknown to us. We made a turn too early and ended going the wrong way into the parking lot where the car show was. They moved the barricades and allowed us in. As we slowly moved through the lot, we passed the Shelby's GT-H. Tracey Smith and Cleo pointed at us and waved for Adam to come over. He got out and went over to meet Mr. Shelby. Adam retold our BP story and Mr. Shleby apparently had a few choice words (colorful terms related to farm animals and their waste products) about their diligent techniques. Mr. Shelby, against the advice of those around him, got out of his car to pose for a picture of Adam. Hopefully Adam will come to this forum and post the pictures and fill in any blanks that I have left in the story. We had a nice German dinner at the Edelweiss Restaurant in the lobby of the Holland Hotel followed by some entertaining non-German belly dancing. After a drink or two and absorbing the ambiance of the Railroad Blues bar, we went back to the resort. I had bonded enough with Adam to confidently ask him if he would like to drive my GT500 back (in the dark on an unknown road). He jumped at the chance and after topping off the gas tank, off we went. We were concerned about animals on the road in the dark, so he drove cautiously all of the way. Early on we saw the Bullrun crew (who left the gas station just ahead of us) pulled off to the side of road with a deputy, lights on, right behind them and all of the occupants outside of the car. An early warning. A little over halfway through the ride we saw some headlights far ahead of us and then the Valentine 1 went off. Adam slowed to the speed limit and passed the headlights but the LEO turned around and pulled us over. He reported he clocked us at 91 in a 65 (at night, 75 daytime). He looked at Adam's DL and noted it was issued by the UK. Then he asked if that was England  . In the end, he let us go, warning us that hitting a large animal at that speed would end our fun. The next day, Adam drove the bulk of the Bullrun. He said I could tell everyone that I had a proper English chauffeur for the day.

We are 2nd in line behind Matt Bleakley (oilbleak) and our escort, Deputy Ryan Skelton for the run to Alpine.

About 15 miles into the drive, we had to wait because the end of the line was still pulling out of the starting point so we pulled over to allow the group to gather up. It was about a 30 minute delay. Everyone was out on the road taking lots of pictures, chatting with each other, and generally soaking up the gorgeous day.

IMG_2412.jpg

Apparently, Deputy Skelton had heard enough of my jibba jabba and decided to give me a set of matching chrome bracelets to go with my large collection of gold necklaces.

One of the graves in cemetery at the Lajitas resort. This one drew my attention. It could be Just Tony's long lost cousin Jake.

Todd Burgess (08pony) shot some video for me on the drag race day which I still haven't seen. I will have to go through it soon to clear it out for my daughter's wedding. I will post it to my Photobucket album and the really compelling clips will be linked here.
