How many 08s NOT experiencing clutch issues?

I've got a May 08 build car with 2800 miles. So far, I seems to have none of the symptoms associated with a dragging clutch or warped flywheel.

I did have some early concerns due to the exceptionally high clutch engagement point and very grabby clutch. But, either due to practice, or break in, I find it much easier to get a smooth engagement since appx 2500 miles. At this point I can gently let the clutch out at idle with no vibration, shudder/chatter at all. Or engage a little quicker with just a little throttle. So, everything seems to be in order.

I remain hyper alert due to the many threads on this issue. Is it just a matter of time?

How many others like me are out there?

Mine was built in September '07 and I don't believe I have any issues. Currently have about 3000 miles on her...

My is 7/06 with appx 6500 miles. I took my to the dealer to have them checked out. I will suggest that you should take your car to dealer to have them validate. So that way you have a record and the dealer have the record.

I have a 3/12/08 build car, and have roughly 950 miles on her. I have none of the issues that would dictate the TSB to be performed. I had a little chatter with the clutch when the car had just a couple hundred miles on her, but that has since gone away. Every shift is silky smooth, including reverse, and there is no additional clutch noise while sitting still with the clutch depressed.

Just a litte hiss every now and then to let you know she's alive! :hysterical:

Car was built february '08. I didn't have the problems all the time. In fact I noticed hesitation going into second after a short shifter install. But with a five thousand dollar price tag, should you have to pay out of warranty. take em in. take em all in. Thankfully my dealer was cool and ordered all parts. expect a week for the install after the parts arrive. TAKE EM IN! You don't want to be screwed years down the road when the problem does come up.

Should be a recall anyways

It's odd that about 30 cars (all members here from this site) were tested by an expert at the Dearborn Gathering event 10 days ago. 2007's and 2008's. They all failed the tests. Some were just starting to show the symptoms...and others were almost toast.

I have just over 1K on the clock. Build date February 14, 2008

Don't have the noise when fully depressed but shifts into 2nd and 3rd are notchy, especially when cold during the first 5 minutes. After it 5 minutes or a little less it seems that it's not as bad shifting. I don't want to bring it in but I'm paranoid about the tranny going bad down the road especially since I don't log many miles per year

Keep in mind Rob, a lot of people don't drive their cars in the type of conditions that would cause it to rear its head as quickly. Mine showed up really quick on the mileage because I drive every day to and from LA in constant stop and go traffic, hence causing the flywheel to warp pretty quickly hehe. Others may only drive it on weekends for a couple hours for a nice cruise, with the only stopping and going being at a traffic light or turn, so the flywheel probably doesn't have enough contact time to heat up and warp. Then again, I am no engineer so what do I know, but this just seems to me like a probable explanation.

At the risk of taking this thread away from the stated topic, was the expert a Ford or SVT or SAI employed expert, or someone out of the companies? And, 30 out of 30 GT500's all driven to the gathering all failed the tests? That is majorly scary!

You are right on.

With that kind of pleasure use.....the car should last along time.
