Joe Frito
I've done a search on this, and have looked through everything on the Clutch TSB, but I haven't found anything on a howling noise from the clutch. This seems to happen more when it is cold and when I am sitting in traffic with the clutch depressed for long period of time, but if I release the clutch and get on the gas a bit, it makes a very loud howling noise (it alomost sounds like I'm lighting up the tires). I can also feel this through the pedal when it makes the noise. So a couple of questions, has anyone else experieinced this, and what exactly would be causing it? Grabber
Maybe it's the CSC bearing. There are some sound clips in this thread that will show you what mine sounded like when it was making noise. http://forum.teamshelby.com/forums/index.p...ic=25899&hl=

Grabber
I had to have my CSC bearing replaced. All is well now. :happy feet:
Joe Frito
I had to have my CSC bearing replaced. All is well now. :happy feet: Thanks for reposting Grabber. Mine isn't a high picth whine like that, but is more of a lower howl that occurs just as I release the clutch and give it throttle (almost sounds like I'm lighting up the rears, which I'm not). I don't know if it is possibly my clutch slipping or not, but it doesn't do it all of the time, and usually when I have the clutch depressed for a few minutes in traffic. I have an appointment scheduled to take it in next Tuesday, and I was trying to see if anyone else had this issue.
1RedSnake
I guess everyone can have an opinion based on your description of when it happens. You might want to read the threads on Supercharger belt slippage. Based on your speed, the gear you are in, RPMs and your shifting, it could be that. Not totally sure what it could be based on your driving description in your post. Just a suggestion.

Don't keep the clutch depressed for long periods of time; you will wear out your CSC bearing. Instead shift to neutral and release the clutch; this is easier on your leg too. Joe Frito
Thanks for the info. The noise only happens when I am taking off in 1st, and usually when the car is colder. I hadn't thought about the S/C Belt slipping, the only reason I thought it may be the clutch is because I can feel it throught he pedal when it happens. We were on an incline and went to start in 1st. Sounded like I lit up the tires. Right after Very difficult to get the car out of 1st gear. Forced out of 1st and could not get back into 1st with the clutch pushed in. Called the Dealer and their going to look at it Monday

Our cars were probably neighbors on the production line. Miles? Hard or easy usage? Earlier symptoms?
