formervettowner
Do you think that we can get 100,000 miles out of A stock gt500 motor with regular oil changes and not too much abuse? Are they built well enough to hold up over time?
07SHELBY GT
I would honestly think a few more as long as you don't take it for service to my retarded dealer

shaker281
Given that these motors are basically blueprinted, running forged internals and synthetic oil, I would believe they are capable of far surpassing 100K miles if not abused. Not sure about the supercharger, but that would be an opportunity to upgrade to a TVS or something else.
DutchGT500
I think that will be no problem.

Ford blue blood
200,000 miles is my guess Fuel management plus the great oils we have now, the rest of the car will fall apart around tyhe engine!

05FSTBK
yes I know it's not the same, but I had 98,000+ miles on my '05 GT when I traded it for the GT500. and the only problems I had on it in that 4 years was fuel sender (in the tank) throttle body control & stuck lifter (which wore down a cam) I think they're built pretty solid. regalt87
If it is like the past Mustangs the body will fall aparrt around the motor. This is a different car now, the LS chassis and some quality control improvements may surprise us. Were in uncharted territory, time will tell. My guess is after the warranty ends and a couple replacements of the clutch and transmissions on our tab, many will see loyalty fade and move on to another toy. Airborne4162
The block, pistons, rods, crank bearing/journals, oil control system, and most of the 5.4L internal are tank strong. The heads, cam chain and it's tensioning system might get you near 100K. The Blower is another story and that should be my main concern. Regardless of usage, blowers inherently require attention because they just aren't designed for longevity. And before I get hammered with replies, remember this...your're looking at the 5th Generation redesign of this particular blower. Why so many? And also, this isn't a new application for Ford. Early Cobra's (prior to the S197 design) were shelling out like cheap concert tickets. Ford dealers will even tell you that, like they did me. Granted, today's car and especially this one has had alot of attention in it's $19,500 engine design, I'd still watch out for two things; heat related damage, simply because things are so tightly packed underneath that hood, and the heat generating blower. Check out the Eaton Blower website. Haven't heard anything negative on the Whipple or Kenne Bell blowers yet but they're also cooled by an enormous heater exchanger.
