If it's anything like my drive back from Vegas to Calgary (1,300 miles / 2 days). the run won't be long enough. It never is... Have a great trip! INDYSHELBY
Good news bad news trip good news car ran great power and handling some pulsating on fuel presure guage could feel it in the motor any help on this issue if others have had it would be helpful. Bad news cruising at 65 mph 2 lane divided highway no cars wide open country area seems like good place for test of power drop it down to 5th hit the gas up to 100 start backing down not long see red lights coming from behind them another cop in front I slow down and pull over. State cop says what do you think about me impounding this car? I said that would be very bad I hope you wont. Other county cop comes up and asked what I was thinking? I said I guess I wasnt. They go back to there cars after about 15 minutes of sweating it out he gives me a ticket and says keep it down still a big fine for being over the limit so much. Bad place bad timing wont do that again

We're driving out to Terlingua, hopefully, I won't get a ticket! Regards. Stuart

Doesn't sound like there was any chance at negotiation. Did you have a radar detector, or did they get you with "Instant On?" If it's any consolation, and I know it isn't, but you could have just as easily been doing 150. It's just that easy... I haven't noticed the fuel pressure changes you have, other than it's low when it's cool outside, and high when it's hot (like Vegas). But it's usually pretty steady, wherever it is. LSR
Sounds like you need a radar detector?
Michael Morris
I took the SS to Orland the second week I had the car. Its about 700 miles round trip. I was an hour out of town and got a ticket for 85 in a 65. Cop was nice, but wouldnt let me go. I think the ticket was $150. My fuel pressure gauge "bounces" almost all the time Im driving the car. I thought it was normal. Is it supposed to be steady? MM

INDYSHELBY
I can feel the car surge when fuel pressure gauge fluxuates I think there is something going on with fuel flow. I did have radar detector, instant on going to fast to get it slowed down I was just surprised with how guick the power got me to 100mph my fault as I said wrong place wrong time I still love the power live and learn . Sounds like Bud is looking into this issue

Sounds like Bud is looking into this issue OK, I took mine out for a drive tonight, maybe 60F outside. Started up at 30 psi, give or take a couple psi. When I drive at steady throttle, the needle jiggles, but I attribute that to car vibration more than fuel flow. It's slight, maybe 1-2 psi (each graduation is 2 psi, and hard to watch, because I have to lean to the middle of the car to watch it). When I accelerate about a quarter throttle, it jumps to about 50 psi, just like the boost gauge, then settles right back to 30 when I ease off. Full throttle, it jumps to 75 psi. All to be expected. But again, as soon as I steady the throttle, I run 30 psi, quite steady. When I left Vegas, around 110F, I think it was running around 50+ psi, but again, pretty steady. 351Stroker
Your not alone! I too am experiencing the surge on my 725 and the check engine light (which may be related). The surge only occurs during cruising at a steady speed (light throttle). The fuel guage will flutter -5 psi for a second. its almost impossible to cruise at a steady speed in the car. A few days ago I took it to a Dyno shop for a diagnostic check and they confirmed that the car has a surge probem. They are saying that it could be the fuel map or the wrong plugs or gap. Im working with the guys at Shelby and KB on it. Good new is that we did 2 dyno pulls and WOW! 763rwhp at 6000rpm!!!! used 100 octane.
Michael Morris
Bud said he was looking in to it. Im going to get the SS out today and check it again. The car has always had a SMALL surge while crusing. Under throttle I dont feel it. Not worried I know SAI and KB will let me know what to do. Is this a differnet tune from the "stock" KB/SS? Does 100 octane by itself make that much of a difference? I would think this must be an upgraded tune, but I don't know much about this. What would it be on 91 octane, do you think? I'd expect low 600's, maybe 625...

The dyno tech guy said could be a 10% gain using 100 octane though. I will go back soon with 91 octane to compare.
