Update: with 35K mi, it clatters longer when cold (a few seconds) and there's also a quieter sound, almost like when letting out a clutch, that lasts for a good 30 seconds when cold then slowly fades away. Dealer says no problem found -- normal!

Anyone have this?

I've got it on my 96. The 4v 4.6's seem to be notorious for engine ticking, especially when cold. I think its the lifters? That's what I've been told anyways. Does it go away after the car warms up? Does the "clatter" speed vary w/rpm? I've heard using a heavier weight oil will help, but I haven't tried. I use Mobil1 5w30 synthetic and it still does it when cold, but goes away after warming up.
