PhantomAce
On a previuous thread I read this is this true? The Inventory Manager at the dealer I ordered from told me something similar. Whatever is submitted by Thursday evening COULD be scheduled Friday morning, or something like that anyway... Maybe FiveOhB or ratnacage or Isellford could clarify for us? Mike.
venom07
I don't know if that is true or not buy my VIN was assigned on a Thursday (or at least my dealer found out on Thursday).
rpretzel
I don't know if it is Ford's policy, but it seems like everyone here has been getting their VINs on Thursday or Friday. Just the going trend.

BadTony
it's nice to hear that more and more folks orders are starting to get VINs and come off the dreaded "MATL HOLD" seems like things are really moving in high gear now at the plant. VNMOUS1
On a previuous thread I read this is this true? No, it's not specifically true. It MAY seem that way because a lot of people call customer service and get updated information on a Thursday or Friday. Here's the deal...the computer system (and you're NOT gonna believe this in 2006!!!) only updates two or three times per week and it IS overnight and one of the nights is Thursday. That's why you hear about a lot of people getting remarkable, new info late in the week. bj

That's why you hear about a lot of people getting remarkable, new info late in the week. bj Actually this is not the case. Vehicles are lined up for scheduling on Wed. and the vehciles are scheduled late Thursday. The cars are pulled by the computer based on the allocation, priority and availablility. The information in the computer is updated more than twice a week. I know because I get the reports for my orders. The orders will be pulled on Thurday and all new assigned VIN are available on Friday. Occationally the information is not fully updated until Monday on the reports, but the info is available for Dealers that are willing to inquire. NO new VIN's are available any other day. It amazes me at the amount of speculation that becomes fact on the internet. Come Friday morning if your vehicle is scheduled then you will have a full VIN at that time. If your car is not assigned a VIN then you wont have another shot at a VIN till the next scheduling. So if you call on Friday and you do not have a VIN you still wont have one by the following Wednesday. Also for what it is worth, just because the salesman cannot give you a VIN on Friday, but can give you one on Tuesday does not mean that something changed on Monday. The info was available for those who have access.

As for when your reports become available, your information is not any more up to date than 48 hours, at best. It is most certainly not "real time". And, while you may be "amazed at the amount of speculation that becomes fact on the internet", you might want to check your facts on this one...and your regional can't help you with it. Not that any of this is meaningful to anyone on here....just please be certain of your information before you're so definitive in your posts in the future. Again, no flame, just fact. bj
PlatinumLion
So you only need to call customer service to check status every Friday? At least until the car gets built. Once it is built then info will be updated on a daily basis if there is something to report. The dealership reports will only show a vehcile if the 'status' changed. For example if the vehicle goes thru an upfit it might list 'to body co' (in the case of a truck recieving a service body- the body co would be the company doing the work) nothing will happen until the vehicle is returned to the transit system. So the vehicle will not show on a daily report because the staus has not changed. The staus will show for a couple of days then the car drops off the report. The dealerships may also elect to recieve a weekly summary (issued on Thursdays) that shows the staus of every vehicle ordered. So if your car is getting stripes it may not show on the daily report until the stripes are finished.

Again, no flame, just fact. bj I am talking about the orders being scheduled on Thursday. True CONCEPTS may not be accurate when you are trying to see the exact day the vehicle is built. None of the Ford reports are 'real time' and I did not imply that the reports are real time, however it is a wasted effort to call VOPC every hour to see if they assigned a VIN to a vehicle. I dont check with my regional on most issues, I dont even know his phone # without looking it up. I am referring to the reports that have no VIN for an order on Thursday, and have VIN on Friday. AAI may only update 3x per week but other plants do update on different days so the reports do show more info that you imply. I know you are not flaming me. But I am certain of the information. So I am pretty definitive when I state that the orders are pulled on Thursdays. That was the point of this topics posts.
06ragtopGT
Instead of bugging my dealer every Friday for the next 6mths can I just call the customer service number and find out if I have been assigned a VIN? If so do you stay on hold a long time? Any advice is helpful.

06ragtopGT
Called talked to ole Ralph, he was nice but no help yet. I would like for my dealer to receive the letter that is surfacing telling the quarter their car will be built. Wish they (Ford) could plan the whole production year so dealers would have a freakin idea when they would receive their 2nd or 3rd car. Maybe they will

ColdwaterHotrod
Nice, Did your dealer get a letter or did the SVT rep let them know it was time THE majic time? The Thursday before I ordered my car the salesperson called me asked me how to de-activate the valet tune on a supercharger? I said why are you asking me this? Did Guy #1's car come in? He said yes! :happy feet: I asked about when I could order my car & he said maybe Wednesday of next week if I had my color picked out? I said NO, but I will by then. Then on Monday morning about 9:22 am the slaesperson called me & said ford just called & you have to order your car today if you want one! I then said how late will you be their & he said til 8 pm. I then said I would tell my boss I need to leave early & then I'll got to the bank to switch some money around from accounts & then I'll be their. Needless to say I was still in SHOCK that this day had finally came. The next morning I had to open my check book just to make sure I wasn't dreaming the whole thing up. ColdwaterHotrod
Coldwater, are they full line SVT,SVT focus only, Pres winners, sell alot of Mustangs last year, lottery? I'm waiting on a second car as well. They are a SVT Focus dealer who became Shelby certified. No presidents award winner, not a high volume mustang dealer. I was told I was #2 on the list, but after talking to guy #1 after he got his car & the time frame he inquired about getting one vs. when I inquired….. I was #1 by at least 2 months, but was bumped to #2 because I found out the salesperson that I am dealing with worked for him when he was a teenager many years ago & also gave him the Bold Moves Banner I wanted & was told I would get, so I guess you could say he took him from #3 on the list to #1 on the list. I'm just thankful at this point to be able to get one at MSRP & if they get a 3rd the next person will not be as lucky as the both of us were.
