ilmor
Interesting! But didn't car designs evolve from a-arm suspensions to struts for some good reason? I thought it was lighter weight and better handling, but maybe that's true for the street but not the race track? Calling all experts!!

I thought it was lighter weight and better handling, but maybe that's true for the street but not the race track? Calling all experts!! It's cheaper and easier to manufacture. It also provides more under-hood room (I'd guess that last one is a big factor with all the FWD/transverse cars being made). Once it's in, it's more expensive to maintain, has harsher ride, and handling is not as good. But, hey, it's easier to manufacture, and that's what's important to you, right? The system is roughly the same weight as the OEM suspension. Handling is VASTLY improved though.
