She may be lucky, but..........straight "A" student in AP classes, 2nd chair floutist in the best orchestra in the state, a drum major as a sophomore, honors choir member and a leader in her church youth group...............she's earned it!

I'm very proud of her!

...........but no she can't borrow dad's Shelby..............dadgummit, she'll have her own! :hysterical:

Hey,

That is awesome to see such a great gift and also to see yet another Terlingua Car enthusiast! I bet it will look awesome indeed with the white base and bacl hood etc.

I assume that is a new '08 in the photo? Just curious.

I have a black '07 at Quantum now anxiously awaiting the parts for its conversion. The folks at Quantum, Glenn and company, have been excellent to work with will you be working with them?

Any news on when the parts might be around - you mention something about Las vegas perhaps not making Terlinguas ???

Anyway, I am sure you and your duaghter both will enjoy the car immensely. I have collected several articles and reviews about it and universally they are positive and even thrilled by the car, its handling and performance - not to mention the looks. Also, I have spoken now to half a dozen folks who have driven either the black or orange concept cars and agian they love them.

Take care and keep in touch regarding progress please.

Sincerely,

David

Lucky girl indeed.....

I thought they were only going to produce the Terlingua cars with yellow or black base vehicles ??

That was the first question I asked Amy when the car was first announced. At the time I wanted to match my G.O. Gt500 (note the G.O. prototype Terlingua). But my daughterhad other ideas.........

David,

Yes it is an '08. And yes I questioned several of the Track Guys instructors about the car's abilities. That is why I pursued it. We will not be getting the s/c as I believe it is better for a novice to learn car control with an "under-powered" car first. If she continues to be interested in Open Track events and as she progresses, we'll look at HP options then.

As for the parts, I think that the BoM was just finalized very recently. I don't know anymore than you about schedules :waiting:

Looking forward to meeting you in Terlingua this fall.

forgot to mention that Gary P. took her for a ride in the black prototype at Hallett last month. She was pretty stoked; especially about the bunny on the gear shift knob :hysterical:

Hey sprint200 - thanks for the reply and info and the thoughts. All appreciated for sure.

I will look forward to meeting you at Terlingua - luck willing and the creeks not rising and such I will be the one with the Black Terlingua. I am sure you will like working with the Quantum folks as much as I have so far - they have been nothing but great.

Hi Glenn,

Odessa has a number of the common chain hotels along the higway including a hotel at the airport exit midway between Odessa and Midland that is reasonable and off the highway enough to be quiet. If you are willing to go a bit further I would suggest Marathon, Texas and the historic Gage Hotel - they have an awesome atmosphere and incredible and fun dining and a great bar etc. and in general just a great place to hang after a long days drive. It is about another 120 miles from there to Lajitas.

If anyone wants more local info just ask me.

I think if I got close enough to get a whiff of Midland, I'd have to find time to visit the Chaparral Museum. Earth-shaking performance developments from that area.

Snicker-snack, y'all ...

Glenn,

I spoke to you earlier about meeting up at Quantum's shop or similar place for a DFW area cruise to Terlingua. Would be interested in meeting up in Odessa Wed evening once a location is identified.

Cool news, can't wait to see photos of the finished project.

Are you going with a silver or yellow "bunny" on the hood?

We are trying to switch to silver, if there's still a choice, as we think it works better with the Grabber Orange body color.

Thanks,

I'm excited. If my daughter knew about it, she'd be excited :hysterical:

We'll post video of her walking in to the Quantum Showroom at Christmas :camera: :happy feet: (note to self: make sure she is wearing her Terlingua cowboy hat and some boots)

Definitely the YELLOW Lucifer! Yellow will be the only "color" on this b/w car! Remember that the logos on the sides, the gas cap cover, and the badge on the rear will all be yellow too (no matter which hood logo is chosen).

I even saved my yellow "rookie" fender stripes from Terlingua to put on this car.

But then I'm the guy that made the fuss about silver when that leaked out anyways :redcard::slapfight:

I just personally don't like the idea of a silver logo on the Terlingua's. I've seen the G.O. prototype twice in person and liked the yellow on the hood. But what do I know? I've got silly stickers all over my "valuable, collector's" 2007 GT500 :kuko::runaway::hysterical2:

lol... Yep remember that now, and back then I was firmly on the yellow side, but

my son's sense of color over history has given me reason to change. :D

Sounds like a very special Christmas plan, hope you can keep it hush-hush until then.

Your daughter is a very lucky girl. I would of loved a car like this when I was that age, but then again I was barely above average in High School. Looking back, my greatest accomplishment in High School was on a playing field and not in the classroom. But then again you seem to be just as lucky, or a good trainer, to have such a model child.

Congrats on the car and she deserves it~!

Can I start with any color V6 for the Terlingua package? Is it cheaper to start with a black car?

Thanks in advance for any info.

Ken

Hi Ken,

I will share what I know and have learned as a Terlingua owner/buyer.

It is my understanding that any color will work and can be modified. It simply needs to be a coupe from '05-'08, V6, stick or auto. Currently, the two mod shops shown can make the conversion - Tasca and Quantum and perhaps LV next year I am hearing.

There are two packages - the base and performance. Both come with the very cool looks, the performance has more horsepower, larger wheels, big brake kit and some other options. This is what I choose and have not regretted it, but it does cost 10K more.

Black has been popular to match the original Terlingua crest colors which are yellow and black - so thus a yellow base color works equally well and also looks great. Ford made screaming yellow I think in 05, 06. Other colors I know of being considered for modification include white, orange, and grey. I have heard blue as a possibility as well. Others are possible...

So, the most cost effective option is to find a low mileage, low cost used car of the color you prefer, then modifiy it to the base package. The high end is a new car with many options and the performance package and rear axle upgrade.

Hope this info helps - feel free to ask more or PM me. Be glad to tell you of my experience with Quantum - it was very favorable indeed.
