I am really just fishing for more info, I have the real story from the son i purchased it from, he drag raced a 66 shelby with paxton, boss 302, boss 351, 68-1/2 428 , the boss 351 was his fastest car he ran low 13`s high 12`s at two different tracks! he owned a couple 67-68 shelbys and a pantera, because of health issues he has sold all of his cars, he never owned a boss-9 because they and the hemi crysler were" turds" later Jon

That's a cool statue. You'll have to fill us all in on the backstory of the statue.

From the factory the boss 9 was a slug. However, with only a few mods it changed it's tune completely. It's not often that a naturally aspirated engine can easily make 800-1000hp like the Boss 429 or 426 Hemi. Wasn't the Boss 9 banned from NASCAR too because of an unfair advantage or something like that? :)

Sweet statue  I saw one just like it in a shop in Seoul, Korea and now I'm kicking myself that I didn't buy it :glare:

The statue was a ford promotional item back in the late 60`s (the promotion had a slogan to go with it and also there was a small time rock group with this promo just haven`t got back to the son yet to get this information) the dealers son is going to give me a write up on paper to document to me the history of it ,the statue is made by UNIVERSAL STATUARY CORP dated 1967 #422 when i get the rest of the story i will post later!! Jon

Did you find out the history of the statue, cuz i'm really curious! Was gonna sell mine, but after finding out it's connected to ford, i won't now. Got an old 76' cobra. It wouldn't be right!

It was made by the now defunct Universal Statuary Corporation that was in Chicago. Its made of a plastic/resin compound. It is model # 422 from their catalog. It was copyrighted in 1967, thats the date that may be on the bottom but its not necessarily the year it was made. You can find a picture of one in the liner notes of Muddy Water's 1968 album "Electric Mud" at Amazon.com. Its one killer looking thing.

I have that same statue .My brother bought it in the 70's when he had his '67 GT500. I like the red eyes that make it all the more evil looking. He also had a ceramic one that was nicer looking than this one,but i don't recall who made it. It does get alot of attention!

A naturally asperated pushrod motor making over 2HP per CI?

Sorry, I don't believe it for a second.

Heck, the NASCAR boys of today are barely making 2HP/CI and technology has improved by at least tenfold since the Boss & CJ/SCJ 9's.

Show me a 429 (or even a 426) "with only a few mods" done to it making 1000HP and prove me wrong!

I'm all ears/eyes,

Phill
