Just my unsolicited opinion. The kit is for a Mustang GT, but not a Shelby. I am sure Roush is fine quality but you still would not install that on a Shelby. That would be heresy! Second- 12-14 PSI for a stock GT? That is like pulling the pin on a hand grenade.

Plenty of them installed on Shelby's, they just say Ford Racing on them. In fact I have one, running 723rwhp. I do agree, the stock 4.6 should be upgraded. Mustang GT/Shelby GT still a 4.6 Ford engine. You should see the Roush/Shelby FE engines, real nice.

Oh Oh...fnsweet....becareful what you post! If they don't like it you will be banned like me! :hysterical: I can log on but cannot post anything. I tried everything except a new registration. Guess the Roush boys don't like over 600 rwhp GT500's!

Sure, you can bolt this stuff together and cruise around, but dip into the throttle and it's simply a matter of time. 12-14 PSI of boost on a stock SGT 4.6L-3V is a disaster waiting for a date on the calendar.

If you want this kind of power and want to make use of it, build the bottom end, tranny and rear end.

Roush installs the TVS SC on their new P-51A, a 4.6L modular that puts out 510HP. While they're at it they also replace the 6-bolt crank with an 8-bolt Kellogg crank and replace the rods and pistons with forged Manley rods and Mahle pistons; the pistons reduce the compression ratio from 9.8:1 to 8.6:1. I'm sure they went to all this trouble for a very good reason. A recent 5.0 magazine has a good article on what Roush does to transform a Mustang GT into the P-51A.

BTW Roush played a big role in developing the FRPP TVS SC that is a bolt-on for the GT500 and being installed by SAI in their Super Snake.

That's 500 at the crank, 425 or so at the rollers. Seems within reasonable capabilieis of the 4.6 3V, imo, though any increased power will shorten engine life a bit, at least for the miles that you actually *use* the power. There are also the usual auto-tranny mods to make better use of the HP (valving, Tq-converter, etc) and manage heat better. The 8.8 rear has no problem with 425HP -- there are so many 600-725rwHP GT500s running around and no one seems to be breaking the 8.8 (even tho the 500 gets the low-friction bearings). Just my .02.

Wonder if FRP will eventually offer the TVS for the 3V since they already do for the 4V ...might make it more acceptable to Shelby purists? Most of the mods on the S-GT are FRP [branded] pieces anyway, yes?

While I wouldn't want a big ROUSH brand under my S-GT hood, the TVS is likely the finest fixed-disp S/C on the market today. Maybe SAI could work out a branding deal with FRP so it says SHELBY -- that would be very cool, eh? ;-)

Concur that Roush is excellent quality but it is sort of like installing a small block chevy in an AC Cobra, still heresy. Again, 12-14 PSI, without rebuilding the bottom end, is like pulling the pin on a grenade.

say what "it is sort of like installing a small block chevy in an AC Cobra" you are kidding? :hysterical: The TVS was develop by Eaton/FRPP and Roush. It is also being used by SHELBY for the 605hp Super Snakes. If the blower comes with Roush on it just add the Ford Racing plate on it, just like they are on the Super Snakes. Do you think Shelby developed the 4.6 engine in these cars? As for the AC Cobra, mine has a Shelby super charger on it and guess what? it's a Vortech and it come straight from SAI go figure.
