How much did that guy spend to have them done. $2,200 They removed the bumpers, the spoiler, sanded down the hood, trunk lid, spoiler, and bumpers, then repainted, then painted stripes, then clear coated. It was done the right way and not just spraying the stripes over the existing paint. If you click on the link below to my ford space there is a slide show of pics on red GT Mustang they cloned into a GT500. But you can see how they did the stripes by removing everything and sanding everything down. It is a lot of labor involved but they did it the right way. The top stripe above the glass is a matter a choice. It looks good while the top is down, but better without when the top is up. The first one we seen had the stripes above the window and just did it that way. But since I have seen them both ways. Just a matter of what you like. 08SGT1977 Posted July 1, 2008 Report Share Posted July 1, 2008 My Shelby is the Vista Blue "baby" Shelby GT convertible with silver stripes rather than white but its a close match You can see the blue body with black top looks good with over the top stripes. I don't know why so many GT 500 convertibles come with the stripes deleted. You should be able to get a general feel of the look of blue with white stripes with a convertible top. txcobra Posted July 4, 2008 Report Share Posted July 4, 2008 Here are a few more for ya...I added the Ford factory stripes to my convertible (so this is the vinyl kit you would by from the Ford Parts Dept) ...but then I decided to do the 40th package. The package only allows for silver stripes, not white, so they were taken off and replaced with Silver. I actually think I like silver better....hope this helps.
