I tried to find this on this site but could not seem to find the thread.

Can anyone point me to the right place, that discusses the complete Ford new car ordering thru build processes milestones (after order gets placed into the order bank and pulled for production by Ford)?

Is this what you were looking for?

The 10 Steps to Getting a Shelby

1-Receipt Date-The date that MS&S (Marketing Sales and Service) recorded the order.

2-Serialize Date-The date that MS&S transfers the order to MP&L (Material Planning and Logistics) and the VIN is created. You have to get the VIN from your dealer.

3-Segment Date-The date that MP&L determines which week the order will be built.

4-Sequence Date-The date that MP&L determines which day the order will be built.

5-Blend Date-The date that MP&L determines when the order will be built within the assigned day.

6-Produced Date- The date that VO (Vehicle Operations) finished assembling the vehicle.

7-Gate Release Date-The day that VO transfers the vehicle to Transportation Carriers for shipping.

8-Ship Date-The date the vehicle left the Assembly Plant.

9-Arrival Date-The date the dealership received the vehicle.

10-Sold Date-The Date the customer buys the vehicle.

Would all of these dates come from the dealer or could customer service provide some answers here?

so far waht Cust. Serv. has given me is

Sub to plant - 08/24

Estimated Schedule Date - 09-11-2006

Gone into production 9-04 (off of production 9-11?)

Estimated arrival date 9-22-06 / 9/29

none of these terms seem to match the milestones you list above.

The list I posted actually came from a guy who works at Flat Rock, so the terms may be internal manufacturing terms, but I think they generally tie to your terms.

Sub to Plant: probably equivalent to the Serialized Date

Est Schedule Date: Probably some version or combination of segment, sequence and blend dates

Gone into production: Probably the blend date since this is actually the time of day it is scheduled to be built

Off of production: probably the Produced Date

Est Arrival date = Arrival Date

As far as a consumer is concerned, I think many of the milestones I listed are relatively meaningless, so customer service probably has different guidelines/terminology.

Just my educated guess.
