Upgrade Passenger seat to electric

Recommended Posts

I want to upgrade the passenger seat of my GT500 to electric, has anyone done this and if so how much did it cost?" I had one dealer quote me $2,000, it seems a little extreme. :fear::drop:

If anyone can help, I would be most appreciative.

The electric passenger was not an option on the GT500. It is available on the GT as part of the Comfort Group. I have an electric passenger seat on my GT and I would think the parts could be retrofitted onto a GT500 seat. The only issue I see could be wiring as mentioned above.

...can the seat be raised. one of the biggest complaint my wife has is how low the passenger seat is.

It appears as though the only part number that is different is the base itself. The base for the electric seat would be roughly $600.00. The wiring may already be there. Sometimes they lay the same harnesses weather the vehicle has the option or not. If the harness isn't there it might be a chore.

Thanks that just made it on to my to do list. At the bottom though because of cost and frankly I'd rather spend money on making the car more fun for me then comfortable for her.

Just Kidding dear.

LOL............. Your wifey obviously does not read this forum. :hysterical:

There is a how to on this on another Mustang Forums site in the 2005+ section. Someone there has already done it and did a great write up.

Hey Vapour Dude, unfortunately Tulsa just wasn't happening for me. I received the parts to do the mod this week and will keep you all informed how it goes. Looks pretty straight forward.

We are really hoping to get there, providing we get tickets we are there.............

Are you heading over, if so, we would be more than happy to meet up on the way and caravan over? Any other Canadian members heading over and want to hook up?

Do you have your SS back yet, I really hope so, this must be hurting while summer is here? Are you still coming up to Manitoulin in the summer, let us know and we would love to hook up?

Great thread and link. Today I'm ordering the parts, which at my local Ford dealer came (with friendly discounts) to about $620. I suspect the lower figure cited may not include taxes, shipping, etc.?

The local shop which the dealership uses for seat/trim work says about $225-250 labor to do the job. Don't want to screw with it and possibly mess it up myself.

I hadn't really paid attention to the OEM passenger seat, since I never use it, but am now annoyed at how spartan it is, not to mention really low. If Ford has Mustang power seats available at the GT level, it's absurd that this isn't standard (or at least an option) for the top-of-the-line GT500.

Will also report here on how it turns out.

Michael

P.S. Shouldn't this thread be over in the "Modifications" forum area?

Let us know how it goes. I am going for a roadtrip this weekend so wont get it done, maybe next weekend.

You are probably right this thread should have been put in the mods area. Sorry.

Heads up, :redcard:, this is not a "just plug and play" modification for the GT500. The car's from-the-car wiring harness for the passenger seat lacks two necessary wires. You can still do the modification, and these five parts are the correct ones to get. But see this post.
