FiaCobra
It's located behind the left front wheel. I used a small plastic garbage bag to wrap the cross member and didn't get a drop on anything.
SPRSNK
I let it drip and just wiped it down afterwards /shrug From under the car, it's straight up in the air above the cross member, drivers side. Really easy to get to if your car is 6ft in the air. 6ft in the air you say? WTF? Tire/Automotive shop down the road changes my oil for free when I bring in my own oil and filters. I told them that the motorcraft stuff is the only thing that Ford will warranty and they are cool about it. I also buy all my tires from them, so that helps too. Willie
It's in the exact same location and orientation (vertical) as a SBC. I use aluminum foil on the cross member. I've used foil for years on several different vehicles. No rags needed; none to wash later. Make sure to fill the new filter with oil prior to installation. One of the "niceties" of having a vertically positioned filter! Willie
07SHELBY GT
Thanks for all of the info as I was looking for it towards the front of the engine like a 4.6 and saw nothing!I'm going to be doing it on a jack and ground style basis so wish me luck.I know that there have been a lot of oil threads and no one at Ford could tell me that the "a" spec oil like Castrol Syntec that covers the Ford GT would keep me in warranty.I would think that it would but didn't want to try my luck as Ford has more money and time than I do so I opted for the Motorcraft gold cap "b" spec that covers both the GT and the 500 at $8.00 a bottle for my first change.Bought it all at the dealer for warranty concerns. Thanks again for the info! I take it you had it Super Snaked? If they would do a red stripe on black, I probably would have done it. Oh, and can someone tell me where in my profile I can upload a pic so it appears in the LH side of my Forum posts? Guess I am terminally stupid yesterday and today 'cus I cannot find where to do that.

Gun Oil
You do not have to use Motorcraft filters & motor oil to keep your warranty valid. PERIOD. If a Dealer tells you that, ask them to provide the Oil & Filter free of charge, as their statements alone are in violation of the Magneson-Moss act.... Look it up..... There are many motor oils that meet spec, I know that Pennzoil Platinum Synthetic meets the Ford requirements fot the GT500....That is what I sell, and what I have used in all of my cars since new...My Z06, Hummer, Hionda Hybrid, and Toyota Tundra....and now in the GT500. Also, there are many filters that are out there that will meet or excees Ford specs as well....Any filter made by champion labs will be a Motorcraft filter inside....THey build 90% of the Motorcraft line.....I am almost certain that Purolator makes Motorcraft's Premium line filters. I personally like the Mobil-1 Filters...they have a synthetic based media.....they have an awesome reputation.... Pour what makes you feel good, as long as it meets spec, and NEVER let a Dealer pull the "warranty" card on you.

Gun Oil
OK....I am now a little red faced, and more than pissed off at Ford..... Even though Pennzoil Platinum meets the API "SM" specs, and surpasses GF-4 ratings.....it DOES NOT meet the FoMoCo "WSS-M2C931-B" rating at this time..... I just spent a half hour on the phone with a Pennzoil Product Engineer, and he was quite upset as well as to the hoops FoMoCo is creating in the process to get this product to meet "their" Specs, vs all of the ohter Internationally reconized specs that are out there that would allow this product to be used in our cars.... Frankly it is complete BS on Ford's part. I am more than pissed off about it. It comes down to this....If you want your warranty fully honored, you better be certain your Motor Oil meets the Ford WSS-M2C931-B..... :do what: I do this for a living, and other than some issues with Turbo-Diesel VW's a few years ago, I have never run into this persnickity of an issue in 20 years of serving every make and model of car on the road. We work on over 20,000 cars a year at my shop.....this entire scenario is freakin' stupid! You have no clue how difficult is for a Quick Lube shop to have to go into a dealer to buy OIL!!!!!! Shame on Ford.....
Dex
ummm, how in the hell would they ever know if you have only used motorcraft or not? Im pretty sure they arent going to check and even if they did they would need some sort of awesome expensive machine to test the viscosity. You have no clue how difficult is for a Quick Lube shop to have to go into a dealer to buy OIL!!!!!! Shame on Ford..... I have no problem at all in wholesaling oil to Quick Lube shops. Hell, I'll even deliver it !! Of course I might have to charge a small delivery fee to you since I'm in Pa.

Every Oil Company has a lab that can tell what is in the crankcase.....We send oil out occasionally for analysis....they can tell you the brand, weight, etc....
