9 Yr Old Emily Miller is diagnosed with Cancer for 3rd time,

Recommended Posts

My employer has gotten behind an effort to help lift the spirits of a nine year old girl who has just been diagnosed with cancer for the 3rd time in her young life. I was touched when hearing about this and wanted to share this with "the family" so we can all try to help.

Here is a little info from a newspaper article.....

No one is asking that you sent money, but please send cards to help lift her couragous spirit if you are so inclined.

Her address is:

Emily Miller

851 Dorothy Drive

Portage, WI. 53901

As a proud father of 2 healthy teenagers, I feel compelled to join this cause......

and I thank you all in advance for taking the time to read this thread.

I really hate reading stuff like this. However, it sounds like Emily is quite the little lady. We can all b$#%@ about gas prices, cost of oil, doctors pay rates, etc. but when you read something like this it puts it all in perspective. I have my health and good fortune to drive a great car. My biggest worry at the moment is when is the next time I can go drive my car. Then you read things like this and it really sinks home that some people have a lot more to worry about than a lot of us do. Quite sobering actually.

  • 9 months later...

for all those that pitched in last year to this wonderful cause with me, I wanted to pass on some great news about our girl Emily Miller.......

Last year, we had heard about a 9 year-old girl from Portage, Wisconsin named Emily Miller who was in the midst of a struggle with cancer for the third time in her life. We sent out cards (click here to see the card) to each operating location so that we could send them to her to show our support. Since that time, Emily has undergone a bone marrow transplant and is now back at home with her family. She is done with chemotherapy, but will return to the hospital once a month for injections of antibodies.

When asked how she felt once the transplant was over, Emily responded “I’m feeling neat. I’m looking forward to going into the Movie Gallery like Mom and Dad do. That’s the first place I want to go.”

Emily’s positive outlook and optimistic attitude have attributed greatly to her recovery.

“I wish we all never had to go through all this cancer, but we fought, fought, fought and we made it through. And, if we keep on fighting, I promise we will all never have to get it again.”
