Super Charger update 5/20/08

Recommended Posts

Hi all!!!!!!!!

Here is some important information about the Super Chargers for the 08's

1. For the 2007's nothing has changed. We can still install Paxton's and Whipple's

2. Here's the biggie------The EO's for the 2008 Mustangs (6 cyl and 4.6L) for the Paxton S/C has been delayed until AFTER the first of the year (2009). The Eo's for the 08 Whipple's should be hitting real soon. So, where does that leave us? See #3

3. We are working on a SHELBY/Kenne Bell S/C!!!!!!! That's right, a 500hp (nope, it's not misprinted LOL) Shelby/Kenne Bell deal that will work on either a manual or---now get this----an AUTOMATIC!!!!! (and no again, that is NOT a misprint!!!!)

4. The Shelby?Kenne Bell S/C will come in either a black or polished finish. And it will look very simular to the S/KB's we are using on the Super Snakes!!!!!! It will have almost the same type of logo on top. It will look something like the pic below. I have not seen the prototype version yet, so please don't hold me to it.

5. Now, you may be asking how much is this going to cost? We are working on the pricing details and we should know soon.

6. How long before we see it? It could be anywhere's from 3-4 weeks before they show up.

7. How soon can I get my car in? Well, I do have to make the remaining cars I have here TOP PRIORITY!!!!!! I can not and will not bump anybody who's car is here. What I can do is add you to a list and go from there (please email me and not a PM. I don't always see the PM's Budm@shelbyautos.com

8. What is the actual rw hp? What's it dyno at? Etc. Good questions. We have done one so far and we are testing it. When we have the numbers, so will you :happy feet:

And for those who may not know what mods we can do, here is the list again. All prices included parts and labor.

I have the KB and I thinks its great. 425rwhp w/ the automatic, 8lb pulley, so I vote for the KB :D

Iam having a brace made now, it will look just like ours we have now, the bending point will extend 6" to miss the air tube,

I using the 6lb pulley now, due to other people driving my car. Rick

Your car looks great! I'm hoping my little brother follows your lead. He is at least thinking about it rather than waiting until 2009 or going back to stock. His car has been in Vegas too long, it needs to come home!

The KB is a nice unit and seeing the polished one in a SS725 last weekend made me drool (but not as much as the '66 GT350-H. I have a soft spot for the oldies.)

I sent these questions in an email along with some other questions but I'm guessing others will have the same questions from this set:

First question is do you have bogey pricing yet (I'm looking for rough info, +/- 300 would be OK :-) Or, will it be more or less than Paxton or between Paxton/Whipple?

Is the KB kit already CARB'd, and does the kit exist?

Mine is an automoatic, so the KB 500HP intrigues me. Is it an intercooled package? Between here and Vegas I'd be concerned about the heat if it were not.

Do you have any photos of an installation (on a prototype perhaps)? On the automatic does the strut brace survive?

I was always told the issue with the Whipple on the auto was the power over 475HP to the tranny was an issue. How is that addressed with the KB?

Thanks for this update and for finding an alternate for us!

Thanks,

Tony

These are still some of the issues we are looking into and testing. As soon as I have more info, I will pass it along :happy feet:

I have e-mailed Bud and will be making the jump to the KB. Jim

This is Good and very interesting news! Nothing wrong with having more options !! I really like the look of the KB and it sorta looks like the install will sit a little lower and would not rub on the underside of the CS6 hoods. :D

Guessing - strut tower brace is still gonzo???

Good question... Yo, Bud--will the stock Ford Racing strut brace fit the new S/KB Supercharger? If not, will SAI design a new brace that will fit?

I'm having Quantum Performance see if the FRPP strut tower brace for V6 clears the KB. From what I hear it's taller than the STB that came in the Shebly GT.

Mine's not on a Shelby GT but I did get the stock brace on the GT500 to fit over the 2.8 KB. Using 2 spacers from JLT for looks but a couple of washers on each side would work too. I have some lower motor mounts machined by evolution performance that allow for this and no notch cut in the hood. I did have to cut the hood blanket when i out the lower pulley on and bumped the upper to a 3.25" though. Still it is under the stock hood and brace with no rubbing issues. Not sure if the GT500 brace would fit under the Shelby GT hood though....but man an auto with one of these would rock! My wife would have a ball then....although we would be kicked out of the state for all her tickets :)

Bud, looks like a great option. Will the Hertz/CS6 hood clear the KB set up or will extra modification to that hood be needed? Also, I'm assuming if installed by SAI or an authorized Mod Shop we'll get the GT/SC stripe? Thanks,

Dave

The Whipple is the Ford Racing Parts kit installed by SAI (or equivalent).

I know that, I am just curious why the Kenne Bell and the Paxton have a nice Shelby plate on them and the Whipple has nothing that says Shelby to differentiate it from any other whipple from ford.
