RichG
When I insured my GT500, they would only insure it for the value of the car (minus the ADM) so already I'm "under insured". Now that we are adding the SS package to the tune of an additional $30k, I will really be behind the eight ball. What have you all that have the SS's done? What have you used for insurance? ShelbyEra08
Guys like Hagerty has to be use with certain miles, but with Grundy they dont care. Also I think Grundy is cheaper. This is what Grundy states with Collector Cars: Collector Vehicles The first collector vehicle insurance policy was written by Grundy over 60 years ago. As the First and Finest in the industry, you can be assured that you are getting a wealth of experience that only Grundy can offer. As has always been the case, a collector vehicle insured through AIG's MVP(Motor Vehicle Program) program will welcome the same Agreed Value, UNLIMITED MILEAGE and no model year limitation that Grundy pioneered over the years. Also I did a free quote this is what I got: Vehicle Information 2008 Shelby GT500 VIN: Coverage Information Vehicle Quote Agreed Value $70000 original Liability Rate $30 Bodily Injury/Property Damage Liability $100000 with Comp and Collision Comp and Collision Rate $980 Uninsured/Underinsured Motorist Statutory Limit Deductible $0 Med Payments (State Limit) Included Tax $0 Quotes are for annual (12 month) coverage. Your Total Quote Total Quote (Includes all cars) $1010 a year. Like I said that is a free quote online, the amount might be cheaper, just got to talk those guys, they are at alot of car shows. jsdogs1
Thanks for the info. I am using Heacock Classic ins. I only pay 731.00 for the year but am limited to 2000 mi per year. I prfobably will not drive my car more than that in any given year so this ins. works for me. I bought my car in sep 06 and only have 850 miles on it. now that it is ss'd I will only drive it to shows and cruise nights. If I had to use it every day then unlimited milage would be the way to go. Agreed value will be adjusted for the upgrade when I get my car back next week. SPRSNK
I'm going to have to give Grundy a call since I know State Farm will have fits about the SS and replacement value (which is why they don't insure my boat).

RichG
Thanks for all the good info. I have Hagerty on my 71 Challenger now and they only allow 1000 miles a year. I currently have USAA on the GT500 and I am $10k under insured because of the ADM. I will call Heacock tomorrow. Thanks again.
rpretzel
Allstate has a "Stated Value" option. You work up how much the car is worth based on all the mods, and Allstate quotes a price based on that value.
Robert M
No, I will up the value when I get my car back next week. It is being picked up at SAI tomorrow and then about a week to get it home. You do know that if you join the MCA or SAAC that the premium through Heacock will cut approx. in half? I called to have my 08 GT500 added to my collector car policy while deleting two other cars. My quote is $650 or so per year. I was told that if I join the MCA ($40 per year, $75 two years), my quote would be in the mid to high $300's, I think $379. I was also told that this saving would be applied to my 1995 and 2000 Cobra R's and my 95 Cobra Convert./Hardtop. This MCA membership will save me much $$$ per year. Ask your agent about this discount. Apparently Heacock is the "prefered" insurance provider, or something, for the MCA. All you have to do is join, and then provide your membership number to your Heacock agent. We also discussed the future Super Snake conversion. My rep. was fully aware of this and the 40th and said all that I will need to do is provide the Shelby documentation once the car has been upgraded. Was loaded Thursday late morning From SAI and am told will take 7 -10 days. I am praying for the 7! I will be at a car show on May 18th at Sheridan Ford on the kirkwood hgwy. and if I get the car back in time I will go to the May cruise night put on by the first state mustang and ford club on May 3 although I don't think I will have it back by then. Or you can e-mail me at jsdogs1@comcast.net and just come up to visit. Either way will be nice to see you.
jsdogs1
my Quote from Heacock is 1025.00 for agreed value of $100,000. If and when any ss cars sell for more they would increase the value. I also get 3000 miles per year which is still way more than I plan on using it.
Vogon
I asked Grundy if they would insure Canadian cars. Here's the encouraging response... Thank you for submitting your information to Grundy Worldwide's underwriting department. We are in the process of obtaining licensing to insure vehicles registered in Canada. We ask that you check back with us in the summer of 2008, at which time we should be able to assist you with your collector vehicle insurance needs. We want your business. I also get 3000 miles per year which is still way more than I plan on using it. I received my "revised" insurance quote from Heacock with the MCA membership. This is w/o a Super Snake conversion. The quote for the GT500 alone was $650+ w/o the MCA membership. This is with 100/300 and I do have limited miles which in my case is fine, I don't get a chance to get these cars out much. Two young children in our house keep me very busy, and I get very little "car time". BUT..........when I do get "car time", it is very much enjoyed!! This was sent to me on a spread sheet. The higher $$$ figure per car is the non-MCA and the lower figure is w/MCA. Non-MCA member/ MCA Member: Liability- $73.00/ $73.00 '95 Cobra R (#3576)- $417.00/ $232.00 '00 Cobra R (#2985)- $720.00/ $400.00 '95 Cobra (#7288)- $216.00/ $120.00 '08 Mustang GT500- $376.00/ $376.00 FL Tax- $18.02/ $12.01 Annual premium: $1,820.02/ $1,213.01 Savings: $607.01 R
Rachane
This is a great time to refinance auto loans - just brought mine down from the original 5.5% to 4.25% at Pentagon Federal. When you do, if you've not already done so, be sure to get "gap coverage" with your loan. This means that if the car is stolen or totalled, the lender agrees to accept the insurance payment as complete satisfaction of your loan. The gap option in a car loan usually costs very little, and in the case of a car that you paid big ADM markup for, it is essential. saleen456
I'm digging up this to see now that there are more SS on the road what you guys are doing for insurance? I just called Grundy and Hagerty for a quote and have my car insured at Allstate right now. I had my insurance with Hagerty for just over a year but I found out it was cheaper for me to have it with Hancock. They insured my SS for what I have in it. The reason they gave me for not insuring it for more was that there was nothing to go on to justify the value for insuring it for more. Kinda makes sense; we'll have to wait and have someone auction one at Barrett-Jackson then we'll have a base line idea. Make sure you become an MCA member because the savings is significant. Here's my break down with the second number being the price I pay with being an MCA member. 01 Saleen modified; considered an exotic $778/$458 (per year) 07 SS $1332/$740 (per year) When I had the vehicles insured with Hagerty it was around $2000 for both vehicles w/o the conversion done on the GT500 yet. By the way, there is a mileage restriction. For me it's a thousand miles a year for each vehicle. But I don't drive them that much so it works for me. Good Luck, Bart
