License Plate Bracket

Recommended Posts

I have been told that this bracket does not work well for those of us with the lower grille. I was told I would have to remove the front fascia in order to install it and I would not be able to simple remove the plate without taking the fascia off.

Illinois is a two plate state, and my front bracket was already installed at delivery. It's okay though, a front plate is the law and I have no problem with that.

Keeping quiet!

:talkhand:

I have been never been stopped yet for no plate, but it will happen I'm sure! I did go through a drunk driving check point in Schaumburg and all the cops were looking at the car and giving me compliments. The guy checking me out mentioned I had no front plate. I was feeling good and just said something like "officer, it's a Shelby", he just nodded and said "have a good night, drive safe".

:happy feet:

I have the bracket and the lower grill/driving lights. All you have to do is remove the lower belly “shield” that attaches to the front fascia, which amounts to a few screws for access. You can get the bracket installed by carefully inserting it in between the lower grill and front bumper fascia and then tighten up the bolts. I put some blue tape on the bracket edges so I do not end up scratching up any paint or stripes. It helps to run the car up on some blocks or ramps to have more room to work. I can change it out in perhaps 10 minutes or so. However, I hate the front license plate even with the bracket so I am going naked this summer until I get issued a ticket (warning I hope). Some of the guys around here have done that for years and never been stopped but I figure with my luck…..

I have this bracket as well. He does a great job building them and the price is right. My route to and from work takes me down a tollway that is policed by our state troopers and license plates are one of their pet peeves.

The bracket is nice, but Velcro is cheaper and easer to deal with. I have my front plate sitting in the trunk with two Velcro strips afixed to the back, and in the event I get stopped for no front plate, I will just open the trunk, peel the backing off of the strips and Velcro the plate on to the front bumper cover.

I can remove the strips that stick to the front bumper cover, use some adhesive remover to clean up any remaining glue residue left on it, and return everything back to "normal".

Sure, I'm still playing the odds by not having a front plate on the car, but the front of car looks so much better without a large piece of stamped tin mounted to it.

Damn and curse the A-hole's that came up with photo/traffic cameras, because that's one of the primary reasons that Police now enforce the front plate laws so vigorisly; a law that they took for granted 10 or 15 years ago.

I too am ready for the law. I have this device in my trunk and can have it on in 2 minutes with a allen wrench. It simply attaches to the grill. A friend on the site made it for me.

Cool. How does it attach, and which grille does it mount to, upper or lower?

Nice design. Cams that wedge into the grille openings. That's the best design that I have seen; too bad he does not sell them.
