1967_fastback
I gues I need some help to try and understand this situation. I brought my car home on April 12th.(Last Saturday).I finally got around to put it in the registry yesterday afternoon. When I typed in the VIN and CSM number, I got the reply that the car was already registered.I went home from work and double checked the VIN (It was correct) and tried again.Same thing. That vehicle is already registered. So I call Shelby and tell them of my situation. There is a gentleman who double checked it and told me the car is registered to someone in Trenton,N.J. It was registered on Febuary 9th.The car has been in Indiana since at least 11/07 when it arrived from L.V auto auction.I have the Oasis report that shows when the warranty work was done and it was all done by my selling dealer in Indiana.I called my salesman to see if he could help and he is going back through the database looking who had shown/dealt on the car to try and figure this out. So I ask of you guys is what is the benefit from registering a car that you do not own?? 2nd question if this guy had registered my car does that mean Shelby has sent him my paperwork and documents pretaining to my vehicle.I was so excited when I was in the process of buying the car the thought crossed my mind to register it in my name. Then I got smart and thought I will wait till it is home in my garage just in case the bottom falls out or there is something on the car I could not live with. That way I would not be putting the screws to whoever bought the car after I walked away from it. Funny how things turn out huh?? Maybe it's just a misunderstanding and hopefully this will all get worked out.Whats your thoughts?? James

ShelbyDude
Sound like the person in NJ may have made a typo when registering his car and that ended up being the vin to your car. Since you have the car, I would think Shelby would want to contact the person in NJ that registered it and verify any information they supplied when they registered the vin. It wouldn't take much for someone to make a simple typo on the last 6 of their vin where the nimber they typed incorrect may be a vin to another car where they ended up registering the wrong car as them being the owner of record. Since there appears to be an issue here I would think Shelby would want to contact everyone to verify this so there is no mistake involved. Otherwise anyone could copy down the vin on someone's car and if it has not been registered yet they could register it claiming anyone's name as being the owner of record. I'd call Shelby back and request them to look into this more since you are obviously the owner and not the person they have shown in their system. 1967_fastback
The guy at Shelby who is charge of the registry is trying to contact the guy in N.J. to get his side of the story to get it straightened out.As far as a typo goes with the VIN, You have to enter the whole vin and the CSM Number.I do not believe that it was a typo. Also the guy at shelby told me that the VIN's and the CSM number are not sequential so a typo there once again was not likely.I think this guy was going to buy my car before me from the dealership and the bottom fell out or something, but he registered it with shelby before he purchased it.I just want it straightened out and I want my paperwork and everything to be recorded correctly.I will post up when I hear back from Shelby or if I get some info from my salesman as he thinks there was a deal pending with some guy out east. The salesman that was working that deal was off yesterday so he is waiting till he comes in today to talk to him. shelbymotorsports
Any chance your car was advertised on ebay or another public website? It seems some folks are taking vin numbers off of ebay, AutoTrader, etc and entering them into the registry. Wish I had an easy answer for you. 1967_fastback
It is all taken care of thanks to Rich. A gentleman had closed a deal on my car so he registered it with team shelby before he took delivery of it.I guess he lost his financing in the 11th hour so the deal fell through but the car was already registered. He did not get any of my paperwork and will be removed from the registry.I will register the car when I get home from work tonight and file for my paperwork. I have also contacted Hertz to get my paperwork but I have not heard back as of yet.Just glad it all worked out in the end James

James James, I had the same thing happen to me when I tried to register #298. I also had to get Rich to help out. It appears that some scammers are taking the numbers off Ebay and trying to submit to the SHelby Registry to get the packets. I still have not received my Shelby info, waiting an Adrienne at Shelby Automotive to get back to me. I bought my car on Jan 4th. Dennis can help get the Hertz stuff for you, I bought my car from him and I got the Hertz stuff within a couple weeks. Randy
1967_fastback
Thanks for the info Randy.I just don't understand why the paperwork is important to people who don't own the car. What do they plan to do when they recieve it? Hang on to it for 20 to 30 years and try and sell it back to us/or whoever owns our cars at that time??What is this world coming to?The Morales and Values of alot of people these days is just in the toilet........... Sorry, Thats a whole nother rant. James
