Dave-Washington
Does anyone know of a hands-free phone kit that will work with the dvd/nav system? The reason I ask is that the nav displays have a phone button. The manual says that if the module isn't installed, nothing will happen if you push it, which is what happens. I then went to the local dealer to see if this was something that could be added, and they had no idea. A salesman directed me to the Mobile Ease system, but that just seems to hook into the audio harness, not make use of the display. Another salesman said one of the local electronics shops had an aftermarket kit that would work, but I haven't had a chance to check into it yet. Has anybody heard of a way to do this? I know Parrott (sp?) is supposed to make some good stuff, but that doesn't use the display I already have. I'd like to keep the extra clutter to a minimum. I have a unit called "mobile ease" that is plug and play to the factory Nav unit. . It works great, and it plays through your factory sound system. The two things I don't like about it is the fact that it is not 100% voice command. Meaning you have to press a button before you can answer an incoming call or place a call. and you have to manually program your phonebook. It doesn't pick it up directly from your phone. here it is in an ebay search http://search.ebay.com/search/search.dll?f...&category0=

Mine was factory installed.
Son of GT
You might find what you are looking for at Ford's main website. Locate the link to Accessories and see what they have there. If you can't find anything there, the unit is made by Pioneer so it's possible that they may have the device to make that feature work. Oh yes, and there's always Crutchfield too. So if Joe Blo calls, and he is in the Mobile Ease phonebook, will it display that it's him calling?
07alloyGT
So does it display anything on the Nav display, or just mute the audio when a call comes in? So if Joe Blo calls, and he is in the Mobile Ease phonebook, will it display that it's him calling? It's mutes & clears screen info of whatever is playing (radio, CD, NAV) & shows only 'PHONE' in the upper lefthand corner of the screen. It doesn't display anything else. The Mobile Ease phonebook is audible only. One of the stupid little quirks is that it won't recognize names like Bill or Jill.
68fastback
Since the Nav system was new to the '08s and Sync was made available in MY'08 I'm wondering if Ford will eventually make a Sync retrofit available. Maybe that's not practical -- dunno. Mustang doesn't get Sync natively until the '09s, I think.

Got info from Ford today saying in june sync should be avalible for 2008 Mustang as an accy, say's it is for non Nav only:(

Actually, I can see why ...there's a lot more to Sync than meets the eye (it's much like a mini-PC base) and capable of many other function in the future, so I can see how it could be hard to seamlessly integrate with an existing Nav/DVD. Oh, well... thanks for the insight! -Dan
Dave-Washington
One of the local electronics shops said there's a module to display the incoming caller on the screen, but it's almost $1000 to do it, PLUS the hands free unit. I guess I'm out of luck on what I'm trying to do. Parrott has the CK-3100 (think I have the model right) that should blend into the black interior fairly well.
