SHELBY letters on rear decklid

Can someone provide me wtih the exact dimension for the location of the SHELBY letters on the rear deck lid. I am going to put mine back in there stock location and I would like to put them in the exact spot.

I have the new set of letters and they are all attached together, so I just need to know how they center up on the drivers side deck lid. A close up photo of that location would help me put them back in the exact factory / stock location.

??? Why the switch back? Don't like the look? Or don't like the violation of stock?

My factory stripes on my rear decklid are cracking at all locations at the seam overlaps. The little depression area that the top stripe has to bridge as it lays over the bottom stripe is where the full length cracks are. I filed a warranty claim and now have in my posession all the replacement stripes. My dealers stripe installer is coming out to my house / shop on Friday 4/4/08 to peel the old ones off and install the new ones.

My letters have to come off to do the work. I do like the look of both locations and down the road, I am going to have my stripes painted on, especially if they fail again. I do not want to have to deal with my SHELBY letters when I have my stripes painted on in the future, so I want to move them back where they can stay put forever.

Ok Grabber, I'm making another guest appearence here at TS just for you & to help you out since your a good old boy. :hysterical:

These photos are from the fastest color car & may be shewed since it goes so fast & things have a hard time staying attached :hysterical:

The 1st photo I placed an extra set of factory lettering just above the factory applied lettering & IMO this is a good spacing trick for placement of the new ones.

Dan & Rodney (and Keith too):

I really appreciate the time you guys took to take these measurements and take the photos. I have taken down all the information and now I can return my S H E L B Y letters to the exact stock location. I just got home from work and plan on doing this little project tonight. I will post up a photo when I complete the letter removal and installation.

This site Rocks. :happy feet:

I used a blow dryer and heated up the letters an popped them off with a plastic putty knife. The adhesive stayed intact except on the "S". I fixed that, and then put the old letters to use on my mailbox stand.

Then I cleaned off the spots and put the new letters on using the dimensions given to me. Here it is:

Grabber, what's the deal with the stripes? Are they peeling off, cracking, or what? Anything that can be done to prevent?

I don't know what caused it, but this is what is going on; there is a hairline crack the entire length of the stripe at the overlap. The crack has collected dirt and is noticable to me. It appears that there is some sort of finish on the stripes and it is the finish that is cracking. The location of the crack is right over the depression caused by the underlying stripe.

I wonder if the liquid ice could of caused it ?

I'm going to watch mine closely. I using Ice to polish and have also used Meguair's products (NexGen wax). Sure is disappointing for a car of this caliber.
