If you mean the Borla "stingers", the FRPP 5GT are one and the same, and you can get them for under $500. Try Evolution Performance.
gtcpa
The Borla Axle Backs are listed for around $570. Has anyone found them for less, and how do you like them? I bought a set (Borla) from net-parts express on ebay for $502 (shipping included for free) about 8 months ago for my '06 Mustang GT, and then I bought a set from them on ebay last month for my GT500 for the same price. The shipping was fast and well packaged from Borla. Great mufflers ! Very deep muscular sound. Interestingly enough, there is not much of a sound difference between my '06 Mustang GT with a cat-less H pipe, and the GT500 with the cats still on. bigdrawz24
Blue Oval Industries has them at $475.00 I noticed two different axle backs on there. 1. Ford Racing (#M-5230-SGT), for the gt500 price $739 2. Ford Racing (#M-5230-5GT), listed for the GT at a price of $429 Is there a difference, or because #1 is specific for th GT500 it is more? Has anyone put #2 on their GT500 and it works, sounds good? Would love help with this, thanks BigDrawz

I am not sure about "why" the price difference, but I have been told by the Ford Racing dealer and a local garage that the 5GT was designed to be used with the 4.6 (Mustang GT engine) and the SGT was designed for the 5.4 GT 500 engine. mr ford
5gt is a louder muffler and has the drone at 1800rpm sgt is quieter and not as loud an no drone Either will fit on the gt500. I went with the 5gt and does not seem that loud at all but does have the drone.

Do a search on the forums for that part number and you 'll find a ton of opinions. I have the 5GTs and have had them for nearly 2 years. Love em....drone and all. After you get your 3.73's in (and you will), it'll take the drone out of your everyday driving rpm range. bj
Canadian Bacon
I have the Borla touring 11752 purchased from Evolution. Good sound, little drone, little to quiet but overall I am happy with them. Great quality, stainless steel etc. If you want louder a catless X pipe will sound fantastic. I am seriously looking at the Borla axle backs as well and thinking I might go with an offroad-X to get the most volume? The 11752 is the Borla Touring with actual mufflers. The 5gt are the samll straight thru mufflers. I have the 11752 on order to run with the off-road-x. I had ran the 5gt's with cats and I loved the sound and could live with the drone. I then ran the offroad-x with the 5gt and it was complete mayham. When cruising on the highway it sounded like a mack truck with no exhaust. Waaaayyyy to loud and the drone was insane. I will run the touring with the off-road pipe next week and report back. Evolution has them both listed with pics.

I believe that 1BADGT500 war running the 5gt axleback with offroad-X and posted clips out on Youtube. That car sounded awesome. I wonder what the difference was if any from your car. I was thinking of going with just the SLPs but I read that SLPs with the offroad X is just way too loud and sounds nasty. So I thought the Borla's would be a better choice and could always add the offroad X if I just need it a tad bit louder?

You need to hear it in person, cause its insane! I just installed the touring Borla's and the offroad pipe and love the sound. I can keep it mellow now and no drone. When I get on it, all hell breaks loose. I highly recommend the touring with no cats. Another note: The KB with no cats is night and day difference in power. The difference between the two FRPP part numbers and pricing is because one comes with after cat pipes along with the mufflers and the other is just the mufflers alone. Both kits will fit either a SGT or a GT500.

airforceus
The 5GT and the SGT are the same mufflers; verifed that from Borla. The difference between the two FRPP part numbers and pricing is because one comes with after cat pipes along with the mufflers and the other is just the mufflers alone. Both kits will fit either a SGT or a GT500. I went to my local dealer yesterday who ordered the SGT package for me. I didn't see any after cat pipes in the box. It looked exactly the same as the 5GT...just the mufflers and ford racing tips. The box did have the sticker that read it was specifically for the 5.4liter Shelby. I still have no idea what the difference is unless the SGT just flows better somehow. I think I will still go with the SGT since he has it in. Son of GT
CORRECTION!!! My apologies. I actually went out to Borla on Friday for business, and got the following information from my contact there, and not from the customer service bonehead that misinformed me over the phone. The 5GT mufflers are for the 5.4 engines and are baffled in order to eleminate the interior droan that occurs between 1,800 and 2,100 R.P.M. with the SGT mufflers. The SGT mufflers are the original mufflers that FRPP initally offered for both the 5.4 and 4.6 engines, but as stated above, they droned with the 5.4 motor, so Borla came out with the 5GT's. But while the 5GT's cancelled the droan out, those mufflers are almost as quiet as the stock mufflers due to the additional baffling. So if you want your GT500 to be louder (really louder) than stock, pop and snarl when you down shift, and don't care about the drone (which goes away with 3.73 gears), then the mufflers you want to install on your GT500 is the SGT mufflers. The price difference between the two is due to the additional baffling that the 5GT mufflers have in them. Again, my apologies for previously posting inaccurate information about this subject. airforceus
Son of a GT - thank you for the information, I really appreciate someone helping out a fellow forum member. I think venom and I are now confused because you may reversed the 5GT and SGT in your last thread...I think?? The SGT's are the more expensive of the two, so I think those are the ones that offer additional baffling for the increased price. And these were probably the updated ones since the 5GTs were the original with the drone. I personally want louder, meaner exhaust and plan to make a gear change down the road so the drone isn't an issue. It looks like 5GT's are the route I should go. BUT...I've heard that if you plan to do a mid-pipe or an offroad x pipe down the road, then the 5GTs might become a bit TOO loud. I've read this a couple of times, but don't know if its accurate or not. I think I'm going to end up doing a 5GT axle back and catted x later on. Thanks again! Son of GT
My apologies again for any further confusion that I may have created... The best and easist way to get clarity as to which muffler is baffled and which is not would be to go to the Borla website and do a search on part number 140210. That number will come back to the baffled 5.4 muffler designed for the GT500 in order to eleminate the drone. You can see a "end cut" picture of the muffler that shows the 4 baffle holes in it. The FRPP part number for those identical mufflers is 5GT, and the 5 is used to indicate that it was designed for the 5.4 engine. If you do a search for part number 11750, it will come back to the Mustang GT 4.6 muffler that is not baffled. The FRPP part number for these mufflers is SGT, and it's the muffler that Michael Morris and I have on our cars. If the non-baffled mufflers are cheaper than the baffled ones, then I do not have a proper explanation as to the price difference between the two. I sincerely hope that I helped this time around. Son of GT; I'm not complaining at all and am truly Thankful for your feedback. Just trying to figure out the right system. You have the non-baffled design. They don't drone right? And if I remember those are a tad bit quieter than the chambered. I know that doesn't make sense but would jive with what I had on my '03 Cobra from Stainlessworks. They had a big bore straight-thru muffler that was quieter than the chambered one they offered with almost no drone. The chambered was louder, and was accompanied by pops, crackles burbles etc. on deceleration which I liked so I think the 5GTs will suit me better

The SGT is slightly different sound, not quite as agressive, with less drone, it still has some but not like the 5GT's. The 5GT's are drone monsters, but that gets bypassed when you go with the 3.73 gears. You can force them into the 1900 range and they still drone but the gearing works great to keep you out of that range. For me, it is 57 mph on the freeway in 6th. Like that happens often, and when it does, I just shift to 5th. I have 5GT's, and trust me, they scream. This can be very confusing. I know what I have and I am very happy, happy, happy.
