I have put a tentative budget together to upgrade my Gt500.

I origanaly was goint to go SS with the car, however I may be willing to forgo that option with current economic conditions.

if you had a 7K budget what upgrades are a must.

just tinking out loud. :fool: :fear:

Depends on what you want.

Handling - search all the suspension mods people have done.

Brakes - easy to spend a few grand on these too. Again - tons of info to seach through in the Tech section.

Power - dozens of different options with different SC changes and "stages" the big tuners offer. Seach the Tech section for what's important to you.

Bling - Wheels/tires. All kinds of underhood goodies.

Look around - it's easy to blow $7k with just one call. :happy feet:

I'd jack the suspension to fix the wheel hop, cold air intake and the 725hp supercharger with new programming. Comes out to about 7k I think.

Someone else once asked the same question but with a $3000 budget. Here was my answer:

For a mildly modded well-mannered street car with the biggest bang for the buck; here's what I would do with $3000:

1. Ground Control Coilover suspension kit $1500

2. FAYS2 Watts Link $600

3. AdjustableUpper/Lower control arms ~$500

4. FRPP 3.73 gears (installed ~$400)

If you wanted to stretch that budget just a tad.... then

5. 14" Baer Brakes rear rotor kit with caliper relocation bracket ~$600

You will not believe what a different car it will be!!!!!!

So, with a few more bucks to spend, and all the miserable suspension failures fixed.....now you can add some power & bling...

6. 2.6" pulley (I went with VMP's stock appearance unit)

7. Cold air intake (C&L for me)

8. A tune of course.....

Now choose whether to go with bling or more performance

either an SS hood or long tube headers & 3" exhaust from Stainless Works.......

If that's not enough maybe have the s/c ported by PSE Superchargers.....

I'd invest on another set of factory rims and bump up the rubber. Handling: Kumhos, Nittos, maybe another set of BFGs Supercar tires NOTE: Rims are always desired items when bidding out an original Shelby, it also buys you some worry insurance if you eat one on a curb. ($2000 right here). Your suspension (less hop) should be SVT tuned and pretty damn good. For Power: FR-1 (Open Air Cleaner, Highflow muffler & engine reprogramming) + FR-3 (different gearing) when done altogether will only need one reprogramming and not two separate reprogrammings. ($3200.00). Sequential tail lights ($150.00). Cervini side scoops for both windows and body to include painting ($700.00)...pure vanity. Clear wrap the front fascia with this amazing paint clip resistant clear coating normally seen on high end exotic cars (see this forum from Grabber) ($700.00). So far, $6750 which leave you $250.00 buffer to either a. load up your tank about 5 times, or b. pay this reg fee for a nice SCCA run + NMRA open time trials.
