naniki
Hi again folks. I authored a thread titled supercharger Q's last week and got some great info...thanks. Now I am following advice found there and looking for better tires that can go on the rear, using the stock wheels. So...I used an online diameter calculator to come up with 285/40/ZR18 being the closest match in diameter (26.976") to the stock 235/50/ZR18. diameter of (27.2519). Somewhere on here I saw that traction control issues can arise from too great a difference between front and back. That said, this is a difference of .27". Will this be a problem? This match is based on the max width I can go with on an 18X8.5"rim. If I am wrong, start laughing and (hopefully) correcting now. Finally, I am pretty much settled on Nitto NT555ExtremeZR's and the best price I have found so far is $214.00 ea @ discount tire direct.com. As always, any advice will be appreciated and thanx in advance.

I also just bought a set for my Alcoas which will be going on in two days. I will keep you updated on my new set.

Does the new tire come in a 50 series?

Does the new tire come in a 50 series? I agree, but even going to a 45 puts me at 28.1" and that three quarters of an inch bigger. I don't know if that will make an issue with traction control. If someone here knows it will not, I will go bigger.

From what Ive been told 3/4 of an inch is too much and it will set off traction control. Remember all 30's are not the same height. Its a ratio of the width of the tire. A 255/30 will be not be as tall as a 295/30. Im no tire expert, I just listen when LuLu speaks or types.........where has he been anyway?
