Afterburner
So after searching online for weeks trying to find a black shelby at the price I was willing to pay, I get a call from a dealer in Newport News VA. and the salesman said he would search and see if he could find me one. He calls me back the next day(Wednesday) and says he found one in North Carolina(a lie) and he could get me out the door at about 47K. He tells me they could send a truck down on Friday or Saturday to pick it up. I asked him if he could fax me the sticker so I could check it out. He did tell me that the car had no options. I didn't do the math in my head so I gave him a credit card to put a thousand dollar deposit on it. When I get home in the afternoon, I see the fax on my printer and see that he put $3300.00 over the msrp. I didn't want to pay that much over msrp so I call him back that day but he's not in so I leave a message that I don't want to pay that much over msrp. Thursday morning he calls me back and says he can't do anything about the price so I say well then I don't want it. He says we'll credit your card back the 1K or send a check cause he's not sure how they do credits. I go back online that morning and start searching dealers again and find a dealer in another part of Va that shows a black one with no options. Same as the one that just fell through. I called them to see if it was available and they said it's kind of spoken for. I asked him if it was spoken for from an individual or another dealership. Ends up being the dealership I just cancelled with(it's the same car) and I tell him I was the buyer of that car but I just backed out of the deal and call me back if they don't want the car. He says they definetely will cancel the order if I backed out and we talk price and settle on $1500.00 over and I say call me back when/if they cancel and I'll give you a deposit over the phone. He calls me back twenty minutes later that they cancelled. Deal goes through and I pick up the car Saturday. So a week goes by and I check my CC statement online and see I never got a credit from the first dealer. I call the salesman and he says the lady who does that is not in but he'll get it done on Monday(yesterday). Monday afternoon my cell phone starts ringing as I'm going into the garage to get in my Shelby to pick my son up from school. It's the business manager from the dealer who I DIDN'T buy the car from telling me that they're not going to credit me back my deposit. I ask him why and he says that they went through a lot of trouble to get the car and had to pay the transport company to pick up the car and now they're stuck with the car on their lot  First I said I cancelled two days before you were even supposed to pick it up and then I said your a liar. He says "Don't call me a liar. We don't have to speak like that". I said your right. Then I tell him "You're a Fu$%^ng liar". He says why do you keep calling me a liar? I tell him " Cause I'm sitting in the car that you're telling me is on your lot as we speak ahole :happy feet: As we continue to yell at each other he realizes I bought the car from the same dealer he was getting it from but he wouldn't back off on crediting my card. I told him to take it up with visa as I'm stopping payment after I get off the phone with him. Unbelievable. Sorry for the long story but I thought it was hysterical. Dig-It
That is funny. It's also the reason I went to GA to buy my Shelby. All the dealers around Hampton Roads are crooks.
greensalesco
Nothing better than catching someone in a lie. You know he's on the other end just cussin' inside knowing he's screwed. Nice story. Bruce

TheKurgan
Thanks. Great story. I hope visa will get that money back for you without any fees. Anything for a dealer to make a buck
Ford blue blood
I think some dealers are butts, my guy (Jim Skinner Ford) is honest and a man of his word. His and his inventory control manager are the sole reason I have exactly the car I want and he did the deal with a hand shake!

It's a shame that some dealers look at these cars as a lottery ticket rather than an honest paycheck. This is the first car I've ever even considered to pay MSRP for & hope I can find an honest dealer in my state but would be willing to travel to get the car I want. 2009s' are right around the corner. Afterburner
I live in newport news and this is nothing new It's a shame they conduct bus. like this! The dealer's name doesn't start with a "b" or does it rhime with ball. Both play on the same level. It rhymes with Ball. I think they are one of those mega emporium type dealers that sell many different brands. The dealer I actually got the car from was just like I pictured it when I went to pick the car up. A family owned mom and pop dealer with a small building(no showroom) and like two or three service bays. Very friendly. The salesman was the son and his mom did the financing. Actually, when I spoke to him when the "Ball" dealer cancelled the order for the car, he was telling me they were condesending to him like they were looking out for the little guys and he told them off as well. I can't use the words he used to describe them in this forum :o
