svt boost
Is anyone else having small quality issues? I have noticed the following things over the past 4 months: 1. Driver side door has dried paint drip at the bottom of the panel. 2. Embossed cobra emblem on passenger seat is of poor quality 3. Drivers door and passenger front panel near the a pillar have loud squeaks. Now, I know this is a mustang and not a lexus, but still! I think I am going to take it into the dealer today and have them fix these issues.

Can you post Pics of the paint run/drip & the "heat staked" Cobra logo on both front seats so we can see what your talking about. The Shelby GT500 ranks tops at Ford in Quality. See below. In 2007 Ford continued to drive quality gains, by reducing Things Gone Wrong (TGW) levels and increasing quality levels by 11 percent, far above the industry-wide average of 2 percent improvement. In 2006, Ford improved quality levels by 14 percent while the industry improved by 12 percent. With such year-after-year double-digit improvement, Ford was able to outpace the industry’s gradual rate of improvement. The results are now evident in consumer reports and surveys. The quarterly Global Quality Research System (GQRS) study gathers information from customers of all major vehicle makes and models, asking customers to grade overall product satisfaction and comment on any problem areas with their three-month-old automobiles and trucks. The outstanding rankings garnered by Ford demonstrate Ford’s commitment to designing, manufacturing and launching vehicles in an environment of quality. Top honors for TGW performance in the 2007 third-quarter GQRS went to Mustang Shelby GT500, Ford Explorer and Lincoln Mark LT pickup. When it came to customer satisfaction, Ford Edge, Ford E-series vans and Mazda MX-5 Miata topped their segments. Newer vehicles, including Ford Edge, Lincoln MKX and Lincoln Navigator L also claimed strong customer satisfaction ratings – and each launched with noticeably fewer TGWs than the industry average. Second-place winners for TGW performance and customer satisfaction include: Ford Freestyle - TGW performance, Crossover utility. Ford Expedition - TGW performance, Large traditional utility. Ford Expedition EL - Customer satisfaction performance, Large traditional utility. Ford E-Series - TGW performance, Full-size van passenger/cargo. Mercury Milan - TGW performance, CD car segment. Mercury Mountaineer - TGW performance, Medium traditional utility. Lincoln Navigator L - TGW performance and customer satisfaction performance, Large premium utility. Mazda MX-5 Miata - customer satisfaction, Sports car segment. Volvo S60 - TGW performance, CD Premium car segment. Volvo S80 - TGW performance, D Premium car segment. Third-place winners include: Ford Fusion - TGW performance, CD car segment. Ford F-150 - TGW performance, Fullsize light truck segment. Lincoln MKZ - TGW performance, CD Premium car segment. Lincoln Navigator - TGW performance and customer satisfaction performance, Large premium utility segment. Mazda MX-5 Miata - TGW performance, Sports car segment. chuckstang
Don't bother, I bet you my left nut the dealer will not be able to fix any of that stuff. My car came with of the same defects, mainly poor panel fitment, rear bumper does not seem to fit well at all, gaps are too large, hood alignment issues, fenders, paint issues, dried paint drops at bottom of hood and doors basically anywhere paint would gravitate towards. I was going to take it to the dealer but really you are going to walk away with more problems than fixed ones IMO. I try and keep my car from going anywhere it does not have, especially the dealers as they tend to leave dings, dents and scratches on your car at least with my experiences. chuckstang
Id like to add, Id rather have an original defect that came from the factory than a touch up hack job by the dealer, if that makes sense? Once you paint a car or anything like that even if it is underwarranty, to me, its a painted car and not worth as much, at least if I was looking to buy a used car. ColdwaterHotrod
Chuckstang, You need to remember that you were bashing this car hard before you got your car delivered & many, many high management folks from the AAI assembly plant & SVT read these forums boards daily & have ways of tracking you down (your real name) & following your cars order during the assembly process. Maybe you pissed off 1 too many folks & they made sure to build you a special car for all your kind words over the past year & a half? Ever think about that? Hmmmm

On my 06 GT at the edge of the bumper the paint was thin from the factory. They repainted it, it looked better than factory. That was on a performance white car too, which is really hard to match. Maybe I will just see if they can fix the squeaks and get me a new passenger seat.
ColdwaterHotrod
The only squeaks that others have reported come from the leather dash. some have found they (AAI) missed putting the foam pad (in areas) under it durng installation at the factory or the Instrument panel above the steering wheel rubs on the leather a little. press on those areas when you hear the squeak & see if it's either one of those on your way to the dealership to help point them in the right direction. I've got to agree with another person on this thread that said, you might have more issues wrong after the dealer takes care of your current problems. Good help and good service is really hard to find anywhere now days. Seems like no one really gives a $$it about quality anymore. Be sure your dealer understands that things will be fixed properly and according you your acceptance. Nothings perfect but sometimes fixing something right, just takes a little time, concentration and patience. Go for it. Azbud

Hmmmm LOL That was funny, I can't believe I lost track of this thread. Car made 448 rwhp bone stock and no clutch/tranny issues yet knock on wood, I THINK I GOT A WINNAAAA :D Personally I feel that everyone will find a flaw in there own personal car, nothing can be perfect, but on the bright side these are all things that 99.9% of the time ony the owner can notice. My friends and family think I am nutz when I try to show them a blemish or flaw, they just keep looking and saying, where, where????? Then I reply, right there! hahaha
phr3121
First for the naysayers, how does 448rwhp pure stock sound? Nothing short of incredible for under $45,000. I would take this car anyday over a Z06. Fit and finish is superb! Paint is the nicest I have ever seen on an American made car. Much better compared to muscle cars of the 90s, 80s, and 70s. Not a single complaint. Minor mods put these cars in the low 12's in 1/4 mile, a true rocket ship! Braking & handling are also nothing short of incredible (for those that know how to drive it!). A very nice chassis with too many changes over the standard Mustang GT to mention. Love it....

Im currently living with any flaws I have. I see panel fitment as being something that would be the most difficult to fix because once you move one panel, it may line up at one point, but now you have just thrown something off at another point. So as far as paint blemishes, those are probably the easiest fix if that helps at all lol
kstrong
:bag: :hearseespeak: In 1988 I worked as a summer student on the line building Crown Vics and Grand Marqees. We were told to take Extra Special attention to Ford employees cars. There were also some cars that were going to less than nice people who were known to plant workers and the odd scratch would appear on their car, only to get repaired later. Like Coldy said. Be very carefull who you complain too. :happy feet:

Hmmmm, you know my car was mysteriously drop shipped to the wrong dealer as well, which cost me about $1000 extra on top of the ADM I paid! I got my car about 3 weeks longer than it should have taken but was already making payments on it! Man, now that I think about it, my GT500 buying experience could not have been any worse. All I can say is, I will never "order" and purchase sight unseen, and I will never request a drop shipment. Id like to say Ill never buy a Ford again, but I love SVT Mustangs too much. To correct the problem they'd have to repaint 50% of the car and I'm not going to let them do that. Coldy's right, a repainted car is just that, repainted and not worth as much to me...Even if it's repainted the same color
