2112
Brembo calipers on the rear? I recall (not positive, it has been a while) reading that it would not fit but I see the New Challenger managed to get them back there. Was it the wheel diameter not being big enough at 18"? I dont think its a matter of not fitting (the AP Racing 4 piston kit fits the stock GT500 wheels) - I think its that Brembo doesnt have a rear kit for the Mustang (we sell Brembo also). I've worked with them before. I supplied the first bmw E52 for full conversion. They adapted 550 parts to work. Couldn't they adapt the Challenger rear caliper to work? I do not want to change out the fronts.

My last job was a Brembo distributor - sold quite a few Brembo kits for Mustangs (that was before I knew anything about AP Racing of course) Probably pushed for a rear kit once a week in the time I was there - and was told over and over - not going to happen. Your Rotors (Front and Rear) and a Challanger rear caliper....now that is an upgrade I could get into :happy feet:
David Hawkins
Cool Boat Engines Pic but I have a dumb question for you 2112. Do those Headers being that close to the Carbs boil the Gas in the Bowls? David.

Do those Headers being that close to the Carbs boil the Gas in the Bowls? David. They are water jacketed headers. Tube inside a tube, raw water pumping through all the time. Probably never hotter than 190 degrees so no problems.
Alloy Dave
On a rear drive car with as much weight in the front as our cars, the rear brakes only do about 15-20% of the braking (let's assume 20%). If the Brembos are a certain percentage more effective, then those two percentages are multiplied together to get the actual impact on overall braking performance. In other words, if the Brembos are 20% better (I just made that number up), then 20% x 20% = 4%. Therefore, you get only a 4% improvement in braking for the added cost of the Brembos. My guess is that Ford didn't think this was worth the extra cost. Today many cars have four wheel disk...but this was not true just 10-15 years ago...most cars had front disk and rear drum. The reasons for this were twofold. 1) the reason I gave above and 2) It is more difficult to integrate a parking brake into a disk brake assembly than on a drum brake assembly. Dave The rear parking brake is one reason that the AP Racing 4 piston rear brake kit is nearly the same price as the 6 piston front kit. We had to develop a parking brake application. It will be very interesting to hear what WP64's impressions are of his front and rear AP Racing kit - once he has completed the install - http://forum.teamshelby.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=14614 Page
