SIRUS RADIO PROBLEM

I'M WONDERING IF ANYONE HAS HAD A PROBLEM LIKE THIS.

 

IT WAS A BEAUTIFUL DAY IN COLORAD TODAY SO I TOOK THE CAR OUT TURNED THE RADIO ON WHICHED UNTIL I TURNED SIRUS ON AND TRIED TO GET MY '60'S HITS' TO PLAY AND NOTHING HAPPENED. PLAYED WITH IT A WHILE AND EVEN MOVED IT ABOUT 10 MILES TO A DIFFERENT LOCATION AND STILL NOTHING. CALLED SIRUS AND THEY DID ALL THEIR STUFF---TURN THE CAR OFF, OPEN THE DRIVERS DOOR, GO RUB THE ANNTENNA TURN EVERYTHING BACK ON AND STILL NOTHING. I'VE GOT THE NAV SYSTEM SO IT'S THE 500 RADIO NOT THE 1000. EVERYTHING WORKS EXCEPT THE SIRUS CHANNELS.

 

THEY FINALLY TOLD ME TO TAKE IT BACK TO THE DEALER FOR A 'HARD RESET' AND OF COURSE WHEN I PULLED INTO THE DEALER I GOT THE CAR FROM HE HAS NO IDEA WHAT THE HECK A HARD RESET IS.

 

SO AFTER WAITING FOR A WHILE I SAID LOOK WHY DON'T YOU CHANGE THE OIL AND FILTER FOR ME BECAUSE THE CAR IS GETTING SHIPPED TO VEGAS IN A WEEK---AND REMEMBER IT'S 5-50. NO PROBLEM HE SAYS WE'LL HAVE THE OIL CHANGED WHILE WE WORK ON THE RADIO.

 

30 MINUTES LATER HE COMES OUT AND SAYS BAD NEWS----I IMMEDIATLY SAID THE WARRENTT IS IN THE GLOVE COMPARTMENT---HE SAYS WELL WE CAN'T GET THE RADIO FIXED AND WE DRAINER THE OLD OIL OUT----AND THEN FOUND OUT WE ONLY HAD 2 QUARTS OF 5-50 :banghead::banghead::banghead:

 

HAS ANTONE ELSE HAD TROUBLE WITH THE SIRUS? THE SUBSCRIPTION IS GOOD. BUT THE RADIO IS STILL NOT FIXED. I HAD TO LEAVE THE CAR OVERNIGHT SO THEY COULD GET THE OIL. THEY TRIED TO GIVE ME A FORD FOCUS AS A LOANER---AFTER A ONE SIDED DISCUSSION WITH ME SAYING I'M LEAVING THEM A SHELBY GT500 AND I'M NOT DRIVING A FORD FOCUS OUT OF HERE. ENDED UP WITH A EDGE.

the sirius is only good for 6 months from delivery date.

I didn't see you mention that the first 6 months of free subscription were in effect. either way if you verified through dealer, then most likely they are only basing off of date of sale. you need to verify subscription with SIRIUS, since the dealer may have already activated it somehow, BEFORE delivery.

SOME 2008 FORD, LINCOLN AND MERCURY VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH SATELLITE DIGITAL AUDIO RECEIVER SYSTEM (SDARS) MAY NOT SEEK OR BE ABLE TO TOGGLE THROUGH ALL CHANNELS IN SIRIUS SATELLITE RADIO MODE. TO CORRECT THIS SITUATION, SET THE SATELLITE CATEGORIES TO ALL USING THE FOLLOWING INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE SYSTEM INSTALLED IN THE VEHICLE.

 

Or This

THE SATELLITE DIGITAL AUDIO RECEIVER SYSTEM (SDARS) MAY BE INOPERATIVE DUE TO A SYSTEM LOCK UP. THERE MAY BE AN ERROR MESSAGE ON THE RADIO OR NO COMMUNICATION (USING IDS/PDS) WITH THE SDARS MODULE. BEFORE DISCONNECTING THE SDARS MODULE, REMOVE POWER MOMENTARILY FROM THE SDARS RECEIVER BY PULLING THE FUSE IN THE SJB. THIS WILL REBOOT THE SOFTWARE. The last paragraph has to do with a navigator with navigation but I thought it may help with the reset or (Boot) you were trying to accomplish. You may be able to locate the fuse from your owner manual..

At least you can drive your car. I got mine five days ago and drove it home from the dealer fifty miles away only to find a puddle of coolant in the driveway. Now it's sitting at the local dealer waiting on a new coolant hose and a water pump. Now that's DISHEARTENIING. All I was able to do with it was set a few local FM staions on the way home from picking it up. The last ford product I bought was an 87 GT that I sold to make room for the Shelby. Too bad my memory stinks or I might have remembered why I haven't bought another Ford product in twenty-one years.

Contrary to our recent experiences ( I only got 5 miles, from the dealer, in my brand-new GT500, before losing coolant ), I really have felt that Ford quality is greatly improved.

Hang in there, it really is a neat car. B)

I really hope you're right. For the last eight or nine years I've been driving minivans and 4 cylinder imports and the short time driving the Shelby felt great. Now I have an F-150 the dealer rented for me so at least I can abuse that :happy feet:

The old "Where do I take my Shelby GT500 for an oil change & car wash?" question.

I think if you do some research in your area you will eventually find a good place for an oil change and car wash.

 

I found both:

.Jiffy Lube for oil change - I always call ahead and they have the oil and filter ready for me. I ask for the senior person to work on the car and I am right there with them when they are changing the oil. I am very happy with the quality of service they provide.

 

.Phillips 66 for drive through car wash - They have a new and very delicate wash machine. No danger to the stripes, paint, or undercarriage of the car.

 

Again, be very careful! There are some truly horrendous service stations and car washes out there, but also some very good ones!

I would never use a car wash on any of my vehicles, especially my Shelby. The chemicals they use are just too harsh on the paint (in my opinion) and most touchless car washes leave dirt on your car. I didn't even let the dealer wash the car when it came in from the factory. I guess I'm a little anal about cleaning the car. I wish I was like that about my office... :hysterical:

Yeah...sorry we have gone so far off topic...but I noticed a scratch in between my hood stripes parallel about an inch and a half long from the dealer detail job.

 

Im not really pissed, I mean, I know a ding or chip or scratch is gonna happen eventually, but I am a little more disappointed about the dealer doing it.

HAPPENED TO MY FORD FREESTYLE. SOMEHOW THE SIRIUS COMPUTER CHANGED THE NUMBER IT HAD ON FILE FOR MY RADIO SO THAT WHEN THE UPDATE FOR AUTHORIZATION CAME IN, MY RADIO SHUT OFF.

 

ON YOUR RADIO PUSH THE MENU BUTTON. THEN ON THE SCREEN, TOUCH THE SYSTEM INFO TAB. IT IS ON THE TOP RIGHT ON MY SCREEN. THE NUMBER YOU ARE LOOKING FOR IS LABELED "SR ESN" AND IS 12 DIGITS LONG (BOTTOM LEFT ON MY SCREEN). SIRIUS CALLS THIS THE ESN NUMBER. WRITE THAT NUMBER DOWN AND CALL SIRIUS AND MAKE SURE THAT IS THE NUMBER THEY HAVE ON FILE FOR YOU. LIKE I SAID BEFORE, SIRIUS SOMEHOW CHANGED THAT NUMBER IN THEIR SYSTEM, SO WHEN THEY WERE SENDING OUT THEIR RESETS MY RADIO WAS SIMPLY IGNORING THEM. ONCE THEY UPDATED THAT NUMBER IN THEIR SYSTEM I WAS UP AND RUNNING IN ABOUT 2 MINUTES.

IT WAS A BEAUTIFUL DAY IN COLORAD TODAY SO I TOOK THE CAR OUT TURNED THE RADIO ON WHICHED UNTIL I TURNED SIRUS ON AND TRIED TO GET MY '60'S HITS' TO PLAY AND NOTHING HAPPENED. PLAYED WITH IT A WHILE AND EVEN MOVED IT ABOUT 10 MILES TO A DIFFERENT LOCATION AND STILL NOTHING. CALLED SIRUS AND THEY DID ALL THEIR STUFF---TURN THE CAR OFF, OPEN THE DRIVERS DOOR, GO RUB THE ANNTENNA TURN EVERYTHING BACK ON AND STILL NOTHING. I'VE GOT THE NAV SYSTEM SO IT'S THE 500 RADIO NOT THE 1000. EVERYTHING WORKS EXCEPT THE SIRUS CHANNELS.

 

THEY FINALLY TOLD ME TO TAKE IT BACK TO THE DEALER FOR A 'HARD RESET' AND OF COURSE WHEN I PULLED INTO THE DEALER I GOT THE CAR FROM HE HAS NO IDEA WHAT THE HECK A HARD RESET IS.

 

SO AFTER WAITING FOR A WHILE I SAID LOOK WHY DON'T YOU CHANGE THE OIL AND FILTER FOR ME BECAUSE THE CAR IS GETTING SHIPPED TO VEGAS IN A WEEK---AND REMEMBER IT'S 5-50. NO PROBLEM HE SAYS WE'LL HAVE THE OIL CHANGED WHILE WE WORK ON THE RADIO.

 

30 MINUTES LATER HE COMES OUT AND SAYS BAD NEWS----I IMMEDIATLY SAID THE WARRENTT IS IN THE GLOVE COMPARTMENT---HE SAYS WELL WE CAN'T GET THE RADIO FIXED AND WE DRAINER THE OLD OIL OUT----AND THEN FOUND OUT WE ONLY HAD 2 QUARTS OF 5-50 :banghead::banghead::banghead:

Similar experience happened to me, not on my GT500 which I take to a personal mechanic I have confidence in for routine work, but on my wife's 05 Mercedes E320 CDI. Brought to car to the Dealership we bought it from in Las Vegas which is a 2 hour drive each way, for an semi annual oil change. Waited there for almost 4 hours, picked up the car and got just out of L.V. and red warning light came on stating, oil was overfull, please drive to service. Called the service person, and took the car back. They overfilled it by about 2 quarts. Waited another 1 1/2 hours. Drove the car and was at the end of the drive home about 15 minutes to go and warning light came on this time, stating "safety restrain system has malfunctioned" drive directly to shop for service. Drove the car home, called the Dealership, and asked, is this condition safe to drive the car? Their answer was cannot recommend whether to drive or not. Parked the f---ing thing in the garage for almost 3 weeks and drove it back to L.V. as it is the closest MB dealer to us and they did fix the problem at that time, but moral is, no matter how much you pay for a car, you cannot trust the dealership to even do a simple oil change. I am convinced when they removed the oil and cleared the code, they screwed up something else. Dealerships Baaa.

Well, yes, my Sirius is broken. "Satellite Fault". So it's going in to a dealer for a fix. I'll let you know how it turns out.

 

On the oil...

 

I went to two Ford dealers. Yes, one had two quarts of oil, and was going to go to Checkers (no, I'm not kidding) to see if they had any 5/50 of any brand when I said, "Hey, you know, I'm really late and gotta go. Ciao!"

 

The other dealer had no oil. Which is why I buy my own oil and filter and bring it to my own mechanic.

 

A third dealer (Power Ford of North Scottsdale) had the oil and were excellent. They did the 6000 mile check during my road trip. In fact, the 6000 mile with the oil change was cheaper than buying my own oil and filter. Pleasant surprise. Wish I lived there....

THE PDA GUY MADE HIS HOUSE CALL AND DECIDED TO REPLACE ANTENNA AND CABLE AND IT SEEMS TO BE WORKING. THE DEALER HAD THE CAR HALF A DAY AND SAID THE ANTENNA AND CABLE WERE GOOD.

hit 89 degrees in Los Angeles and decided to take the GT500 on a job walk at a job thats 120 miles away with nice open roads. :happy feet: :bandance: :speedie: drove there fine coming back had the 70 station blasting in the car and there it was a certain buzzing sound coming from the speaker, I don't know where but someone was having this problem also and man it was annoying the ever loving CRAP out of me and then it went away 15 minutes later its back so i switched to FM;

 

I remember reading in this forum someone having the same issue, what was the resolution with that issue and this seems like its going to be an annoying issue which the dealer will not be able to figure out;

Anyone experiance this before.

I had the issues with my shaker 1000 making a fairly loud humming noise from the speakers.

They had to contact the manufacture of the radio and found out from them that there was and updated p/n, they got that replacement radio and seems to have fixed the problem.

My 6 month free subscription will expire soon and i never had a chance to test it...All I want hear when taking her out is her SC whine and her sweet engine sound. :)

Mine expired few months ago while car was in storage, I too never used it once. Have no intention of renewing, just don't listen to the radio in this car.
