GT500's conv in black?

What's the deal with all the Black / Black GT500's convertibles? I think the GT500 look great in any color. I'm shopping for one now. But it seems every dealer I go to has only Black with Dark Charcoal interior. I have had a conv for quite a few years now already. The fun of a conv is going for a drive on a nice summer day. The last thing I want to climb into on a hot summer day is a Black / Black conv. Does the GT500 have some kind of special Black paint that doesen't absorb heat? And what about those seats? Has any interior designer from Ford ever jumped into his creation on a summer day wearing shorts? I don't think so?

A couple of years ago I went to the NY Auto Show on opening day just to see the Torch Red GT500. I knew I had to have one someday. Vista Blue reminds me of the cars I have now. Performance White brings me back to the cars of the 60's. Even Grabber Orange makes me think of the Boss Mustangs of old.

Can't the nice people at Ford put out a few more Red, White, Blue or even Orange convertibles? Maybe it's just me but I don't see the sense in getting a Black / Black drop top in places like south Florida. Are people only going to drive it at night? Am I missing something? Please fill me in on what i'm missing?

Just love that triple black....besides I don't leave the car too long with the top down or park it very often anyway.

But yes the seats can get hot if left in the sun. I suspect they all will since the interior colors are all the same regardless of paint.....you can get the red inserts but I think they will warm nicely too. I'd say look into a coupe if that is a huge concern for you but the top is pretty easy to put up in about 10 seconds. Tint the windows and you are all set ;)

What about Medium Parchment or Light Graphite? How do these look in a GT500 conv?

I don't know what the deal is with all the dealers ordering black verts right now. And you only have 2 choices with the GT500 interior: black, or black with red inserts.

If it were me, and the black interior was that big of an issue, I'd wait and order an '09 in whatever color exterior you wanted, then order some seat covers from Katzkin in leather with suede inserts and in whatever colors you wanted. Take the factory seat covers off, save them for when you sell the car, and put the Katzkin covers on. You can design whatever covers you want on their website.

Welcome to the site, but I would go to the svt homepage to see the available colors and interiors-(there are only two choices for the gt500)

The mustang line has about 10 different interior colors you can get for 08, so I see where you are getting this question from, but they arent available on the gt500s, so you are stuck with black or black/red. Good luck finding your dream car! I live in TX, and I carry a towel if the seats get too hot. The steering wheel is my main concern. but my hands are pretty calused from playing guitar and working out anyway, so I can get by till the air vent cools it off.

So you think my car is hot? I think it's HOT, too - thanks!

And it turns out black is required in order to have the fastest car.

I thought Red with White stripes was the fastest? Everyone knows that.

The people at Ford put out 7 different colors. It is the dealers that pick and choose what colors they want to order. Ford doesn't just pick and send them to dealers.

Are you in NJ or FL?

In NJ there are only 15 2008 GT500 Convertibles available. 6 of those are Black. 4 are Vapor, 3 are White, 1 is Blue and 1 is Red.

2 of the Black, 2 of the White and 1 of the Vapor has the Red Inserts. All the rest are Dark Charcoal.

I live in NJ, but travel to Boca Raton every weekend. So I get to check out the cars down south. I have hit a lot of the dealers from Palm Beach to Boca.

My 2 favorite color combo's are red or blue with white stripes.

They are nice colors. They look best in my rear view mirror.

I was going to add, "They look best in my rear view mirror...as I drive home after 1st round of eliminations". But I'm not going to say that. That would be cruel to all non red GT500 oweners. Which I hope to be some day.
