PURVENOM
Hey guys, I am looking for a bit of help. I am from Cananda and own a Shelby myself. The 'bug' has rubbed off on my son and he is now looking at purchasing a Shelby GT from the United States as the GT's were not available in Canada. He's just a young guy, but the prices have dropped to where he is thinking about buying one. Question is: Has anyone from Canada bought a Shelby GT and if so, what did they have to do? Example - I know that cars in Canada have to have daytime running lights, and in the United States they do not. This would obviously have to be done. Is there anything else that would have to be done besides the taxes for Ontario? We have a call into a local dealership, but they are still digging. Any help would be appreciated Thanks. 66DNA
I've actually had mine in Vancouver/Maple Ridge, BC since February 11, 2007. I may have been the first. With that said, I have yet to officially import the car as I'm waiting on my Permanent Residency papers. My wife is Canadian and I'm origianlly from Portland, OR. The car still has Oregon plates. When purchasing the car, I had the dealer switch on the Daytime Running Lights. So I'll have to get updated Recall letter from Ford, etc. and find out the remaining paperwork required. I'm anticipating late Summer import. Keep in touch - I'm sure I'll learn some important things! Thanks Todd

Just for the record, I ended up paying 50 bucks to get Ford to send out a recall letter, and then when I went to submit it to the RIV, they told me that all of a sudden I didn't need it, as they could look up the vin from their end. SIGH. I would get one anyways just to be sure, if you don't they will most certainly require it, as per murphy's law...
